I jumped to the last page of this thread hoping to hear/see that it has been recovered and the thieves castrated.

Eyes peeled in Ky. There is nothing inconspicuous about that car, it will be hard to hide.

With the truck getting ditched, that is a bad sign. :(

I have often kinda thought an unmarked trailer would be "safer" as it would draw less attention from the scumbag thieves, but now I am wondering if a giant logo on the trailer would be beneficial should the worst happen, as it did to Troy and Bugs.

Was Troy Trepanier's trailer marked when it got pinched? Someone asked, that car was never returned. I was just discussing that with Troy at SEMA. Hard to believe it's been 5 years already.

Since I read this post last night it has been with me since, as in sick!!! I met Troy when I was out there, Took time to give me a tour around the shop, Hell of a Guy, And Over the Top work!!!!! I'm thinking when these Crums get found, It's a Blow-torch and a pair a pliers for the first 12hrs....., I think they knew what was in the trailer, and ditched the truck over in pasadena to kinda get the dogs going in circles, I would say at this time get close enough to any trailer that looks REAL shiney, and if you can smell the paint... My two cents, If I was in Ca. right now I would have taken the day off to "Look"

    Terrible.

I'm beginning to think that there are some scumbag thieves reading this message board, using it to plan their crimes.

  11. How in the hell are car thieves going to expect to keep that? Its one of a kind. What a bunch a bastards. I hope you had collector car insurance on it just in case its not found............man I hope you get your ride back.

  12. Just before Trepanier's ride was stolen, Ed McLean from Ontario had the same thing as well. New Dually, Black trailer and radical custom 1961 Chevy with way too many distinguishable one off items to re sell dissappeared on route to a show . Seems like its getting way too easy for the thieves these days. Might be a good item to consider in the build, a good tracking unit... All in all this sucks and if anyone catches these bastards, they need to pay large.

  13. lotta of these I believe are leavin the country and headed to private collections, and no way to go after them at that point (legally),hope they find this and makin me think more about a tracking system and figurin a trailer brake locking system.........good luck troy, did this make the stolen hotrod page on facebook?? cause Ive havent gotta a alert from there yet

Ditching the truck was gonna happen no matter what. Its to identifyable with a trailer. most trailers look the same.

The rad rides trailer was marked with the rad rides logo on it. A helicopter or small planewas in the air about 20 minutes after it was jacked. Nothing was ever found. The truck did show up a few weeks later hundreds of miles away from where it was jacked.

Hopefully there will be a lead on the where abouts. Terrible to loose another great car!!! Hope these bastards rot in hell!!!!

Painting some huge recognizeable logo on the roof of the trailer is also another good lesson learned.
Actually not a logo but a 4-letter word easily read from a helicopter or aerial photograph.
Most likely the thief wouldn't know it was there
and if it wasn't stashed in a covered place it could be found easier.

Most likely they weren't after the car or truck but after the trailer. Anyone with an Iq higher than a melon would know that you could never pass that car off as one you built yourself or sell parts off of it.

There may be some credence to the theory that these high profile cars are being stolen to order for someone in another country for their private collection and if that is the case they will surface at sometime.

What a bummer. I just dont see how peoples brains work. I couldnt even imagine stealing something. At what point does it become alright to do it? And if it is some big shot rich fellow that puts in an order why not just contact the owner and offer an obcene amount of money to purchase the car or item to be stolen.

Real sorry to Hear about this Troy. best wishes for a speedy theft recovery!!!

I have been thinking. How well do we really know the people who ask "Who owns this car? I'm building one similar and have questions." Paranoid maybe, but maybe not.

    Hope she is found.

Rat Bastards!!!!!!!! I hope the hell it is not on the way to the middle east. I know you guys have the best military in the world. I am certain that there must be some H.A.M.B.E.R.S Over there in the military. At least if they caught them over there they can say they shot the rat bastards in the line of duty. you don't wana know what I am really thinkin though

  30. I had this conversation with some drag racers awhile back..and I suggested painting your phone Number on the roof of the trailer..
The dirt bags already know where ya live,so don't worry about them "reverse searching" the phone number, to find who,or where you are.
Don't take NO time to peel off a decal on the side of your trailer either..

We also came up with the idea of posting your tow vehicle license number or tow vehicle discription, ON the trailer .. It ties the two together as being ONE unit..
In other words,"If this trailer isn't being towed by .................., call police, it's stolen.

I hate theives, but there seem to be everywhere..

    Rick

Might be very visible from the AIR..
