Used to be owned by a SoCal friend of mine. It was probably running a built FE at the time the pic was shot. I made a few parts for the car. Last time I saw it, it was metallic blue, running the big Lima based engine with a Lenco. He p***ed on several years back and I always wondered where the car went. Interesting car, interesting guy. Does it still have the pistol packing, got-no-******* Cowgirl painted on the hood?
This was Dave Calvert's Allstate. His brother did the driving. Anybody know where Dave is now? Back then he worked for Nick Arias. I heard he started up his own custom piston company.
The album linked here belongs to my friend Brian. He took all of the photos posted except for the press/magazine shots. I just ran into him at the GNRS and asked if I could borrow some of these pics to post here... I'll email a link to this thread to him and see if I can't get him on here to drop some knowledge... I also seem to recall that Big Willie himself joined the HAMB a few months back... on one of the recent street-racing threads?
Thanks for the YouTube link................Man I wish I had bought some Big Willie KILL Stickers back in the DAY!
i know this thread is old, but this is a cool thread, i missed it while i was a lurker..... i was just talking about terminal island and big willie with my uncle a couple weekends ago...since grudge matches will be in the near future.....i figured there had to be info on him here....cool my terminal island .02. i remember seeing and talking to big willie at terminal island during the early 90's, , i was around 16 or 17, i was lucky enough to ride as a p***enger in my uncles 47 ford coupe with a 350, down the terminal island 1/8th mile, man that was alot of fun, (dont shift till he shifts...lol) we could only get that big *** coupe into the low 13's..., so we didnt win much....but had a great time......everynow and then a guy with a vw bug would show up and blow everyones doors off, written on the door of the white bug was "The Heart Beat Stops Here".......man, good times
"Prince Valiant" Hemi powered, used to be at OCIR all the time. I'm told its still around sitting in moth balls.
Dave, Barry, and Peter ("Snake) Calvert own a piece of and work @ CP Pistons along with myself. Dave now lives is North Carolina and runs our sales office there. The Allstate is now owned by George Streagle of Clay Smith Cams. Less than a month ago a guy started a thread call "Long lost Henry J" looking for a car his dad and uncled started but sold to some guy in long beach before they ever ran it. Before the afternoon was out we identified it as the very same car & brothers. Man this in neat stuff! The photo is Streagles gandson and the Allstate as it is today.

*****in videos dreadman heres a little info i found on a quick google search, i guess you can email him.......cool http://thecarnut.typepad.com/coache...herhood_raceway_brotherhood_of_street_racers/
Wow things come full circle,I started the thread looking for the Henry J and I plan to go to the Bakersfield meet with my Father.I also used to run at TI in the 80s when it the group was called Brotherhood led by the big man himself.I saw him shoot an UZI in the air one night to keep things cool.
I used to run my '65 LeMans (in dark grey primer with Weld wheels) out there too with Conrad, school teacher, and Charlie (in his Vega). Brian Omatsu was always out there too with his nova. I bought my former chopped white '55 chevy pickup from Shannon after seeing it out there. I used to see Kevin Crocie out there a lot- his Dad owned H-O Racing. I remember one night Willie stopped all the racing and got on the PA. He said he heard there was going to be a big fight, and if there were two guys who wanted to fight, they should come out on the starting line and fight under the lights so the rest of us could make bets on it...and if they didn't have the balls to come out and fight in front of everyone, they'd better not fight at all. The place went nuts. No one came out, and racing resumed. No fight ever happened. I remember being there at about 1AM on a Friday night, waiting in the lanes for the late-night brackets (that girl with the gold Fiero beat me that night) and looking at the crowd...overflowing the stands and 3 deep along the fence, and most under 25, and thinking to myself there were a lot worse places these young people could be this late on a Friday night, but they're here instead. I'll never forget that. Those were some great times. ~Scotch~

Last Friday we put out a m*** email to our customers announcing we would be making 3 Big Willie '69 Dodge Daytona Chargers in 1:18 scale die cast. We will be making his Orange KING Hemi car, his wife Tomika's Green QUEEN Hemi car... and the Light Yellow version that recently was on ebay. All 3 will be an "as raced" early version (not like the yellow car now is) before they got extremely wild. Still to be pretty sharp, they will be lettered up as they were ran, have the t-thrust wheels, the tear drop lift off hood, some slicks of course, with the Orange & Green cars having detailed cross-ram Hemi's and CluchFlites, with the Yellow car having a 440 and TorquFlite. We are working with Willie on these, and hope to have samples of them at the Mopar Nationas. Willie may be there too. Here's a link to all 3 cars on our site for full information. At least all we know right now. http://www.supercar1.com/catalog/ind..._description=1 <!-- / message --><!-- sig -->
My partner is the one talking with him, and we've done projects like this before. We wouldn't do it without his approval, and will be taking care of him. I can't wait to see a sample.
Nice set of wheels, will they be sold as a set or individually? BTW, It's the 44th ANNIVERSARY of BSR this weekend... Where does the time go? m
