Hey ,it's entertainment ,nothing more and nothing less. I guess I'm too old because that band just sounded like noise ,loud noise,YUK and as far as the Dog goes , it's a friggin dog , get over it!
I'm with JimA on this one. Of all the sedans out there why in the heck would they pick one as complete as that. I was really let down, expected much more. More time spent on dramatics than the build. The people in Hollywood don't have a clue. The sad part is they make decisions on programming based on the number of viewers. And I added to it. Late model drivetrains and fake heart attacks. Give me a break.
As for the soul-less engine I thought about all the bike shows I have ever watched and ALL of them use crate bike engines. Have you ever seen one show where the builder does the equivilent of a dressed flatty by hand building his own '47 Indian Chief engine with vintage speed equipment? I haven't, and I think that where a lot of the bikes built in 10 days lack any heart- same with a hot rod running a crate engine with the tin valve covers that came with it. A lot of it has to do with paying for the parts and making the sponsors happy. Changing a few things on the car down the road should make it pretty cool (like some cooler valve covers!). Beside the safety gl*** I REALLY like that thet didn't shoot black primer on it- that original paint was tons cooler. Funny thing that goes through my head is that OCC will build you a Kotex "theme bike" for $140K and take your picture with them smiling next to it in "applicator pink" with a big cotton seat with a string hanging out of it and "flushablebe applicator" spinning medalions in the rims because that's their current "program". I wish I had the money to make them build that. I cannot imagine any ammount of money could get Jesse James to build you that bike. He builds what HE likes and screw the rest of us armchair critics (myself definitely included).
- Poor Dog - Piss Poor Band (dubbed in by the way that was not live) - Stupid Drivetrain - Cool Wheels/Tires - Great Chop - Great leatherwork - Poor Dog - **** that Randy guy - A-HOLE - Cool Windows - Scary teardown - Poor Dog - Kudos to JJ for trying
If the destruction of that A made you cry, wait until you see the '36 Ford coupe that BOYD ****s up in an upcoming episode of American Hot Rod. The car was bought from a ****ING MUSEUM. That's right a Museum and they sanded off some paint, through dirt all over it, broke the windshield and made it a "barn car". This thing was nicer than my '36 when my Dad bought it 40 years ago. I tried to buy the interior out of it but have not been able to put a deal together yet. The whole thing seriously disgusts me and if they paint if BOYD****INGRED (TM), I am going to go insane. TV is like statistics. You can skew the information to suit your needs. That guy sure came off like a ****. After seeing the show, I like the car. Like Sam said, my car has been in pieces for years. They did it in days. *****in. Only 30 Model As left in that pristine condition? Give me a break. And a $36k build cost? Are they counting labor too? WTF?
did anyone tape it?? I would like to see what I missed because I fell asleep.. If so let me know or PM me..
The show seems to be headed in a better direction...last week's belly tank lakester? I liked this week's show...thought the car looked good & the leather work was phenomenal. With the exception of "fake heart attack" guy, I thought the crew was great. The upcoming High School Bike Build looks interesting... what is it exactly that you guy's want to see on MG? Seems like JJ has taken more control of the projects as of late...no more lawnmowers..haha Now, if they only would get rid of that obnoxious announcer.... God bless him for trying to help that poor little dog...shows he's got a good heart.
Overall I thought the car was cool. The leather work Paul Cox did was one of the things I liked the best because where is there gonna be another Model A with a seat done by Paul Cox. Not to mention the leather work he does is just amazing. He is truly an artist. If you look on the Rolls and Pleats website issue no. 11 has Roger Meret of Agnostic Front's 32 in it.
Sounds kinda ****py, but hey, how much CAN be done in 7 days? Just thought I'd add my insight. Yeah.[/QUOTE] As gay as it is...Overhaulin actually pulls those cars off completely in 7 days...granted they have a much better crew thrashin on them, but the budgets are the same(unlimited) and they really do get the job done. ...and the best part of that show was the ***hole turnin the magneto by hand to check it......
I thought Indian Larry built the engine that went into his Roth bike? I still say it's too high in the front. Actually, it looks like the cars not channled enough in the front, not because the suspension is too high...
OK- that one for 1load, but that still leaves 2,820 COMPLETELY USELESS posts! I ran out of time picking the fly **** out of your misinformation A LONG time ago- glad to see that you are sticking with it and completely missing the point that "most" (except for Indian Larry) T.V. bike builders DO NOT build OR use vintage engines in their bikes.
The drama ****s. But that's TV nowadays. If they covered a build like we all would like to see, their audience would be 1% of what they now get. Money talks. I liked the car, better than limos and wierd boat builds. They did do this in a week, maybe not complete but dam near close. Given more time the stance and details and all probably would have been dialed in better. Had to smile at some of the items tho, 10K motor and a single leg posi! BTW, the gal in Overhaulin was in FHM or FMH mag, whatever its called, she looks DAM fine outa them overalls!
Agnostic Front From show: http://media.dsc.discovery.com/storage/fansites/monstergarage/video/2005/02/agnosticfront_take5.swf
try about triple that figure The car could have been better, and now all the mindless dweebs that watch the show will be able to go to Mal-wart and buy one with JJ's squeeky little *** voice playing some drivel. The band was just plain ****house stupid screaming idiots. Just once I wish someone on the team would say "keep your tools an CDs, I did it just to do it" You don't think JJ is a *****? Did you catch the part where the old goofy guy wants to use a better radiator and JJ says we're using this one because they pay to be on the show (not exact words) And 450 horse with a pegleg rear end, gimme a break. This was the first time I have watched in a long time and I'm sorry I wasted the time. I still think JJ is one of the most talented builders around, but TV doesn't showcase his talent, just his arrogant pissy at***ude.
Agnostic Front ****s, JJ ****s, the show ****s, the car ****s, when are you guys gonna say The Rumblers **** too? C,mon, you know you feel it, just say it.
I did not mean anything bad about it, i could care less what people's views are. but I was wrong, they're not so i'm sorry. you got me all wrong, I'm against political correctness!! screwdriver could of played on monster garage, i would of thought it was cool. i think i got them mixed up.
do you gusy think the fake heart attack or other over-the top drama was scripted? i don't know what to believe after seeing the scripted lines on alot of their shows.
Who would have thought Agnostic Front would lip sync their part? Some of the builders were the **** but they spent way too much time on that one ***hole. That pretty much ruined it for me.
[] AGNOSTIC FRONT did NOT lip sync, it was WAY too loud for them thats why they dubbed it over. i was behind them while they were playing and it was like being tied to a frieghttrain
Try baby-sitting 5-6 'adult's' over and over again. Now deal with the ego's. Now add the camera's and crew. Add the deadline. Say no, to ever increasing money. Threaten to quit, and in return they SHOVEL more insane money your way. Certainly, not a CHEAP *****. Nor a wage slave. Silly boy's. In a few yrs. he will (choice) be able to move to the quiet, rual country side. Build a m***ive shop with in a compound and watch re-run's of Gilligan's Island (tm) and ask his side-kick " Ginger or Mary-Ann?
now if only he could get some control over the final edit to get rid of some of the B.S. drama. i would estimate that episode was about 75% drama and 25% build.
Yup, too much drama not enough build. I was hoping to get a glimpse of the channel job, the brakes/controls/steering too. $16K for that "pristine" car!? I can buy nice restored ones around here for under $10K... Even for all the drama, JJ still rocks. Think about where the whole homebuilt scene was before he came on the scene - I mean - you can even see the influence in all the newer (more affordable/available) metal working equipment tools that are for sale evereywhere. He has definitely earned the right to build whatever he wants. Trad engine would have been awesome, but ANYTHING WITH 600HP is cool! All that said, he still made fun of my shoes... ):
