It amazes me that so many have so much better stuff to watch on there TV's then mine. I pay about 60.00 bucks a month and there is never anything on so when something like this, which was definatly not the best and could of been better, comes on I try to watch it. What else would you be doing? It is better then watching American Idol or the depressing news or some Soap Opera, or stupid Talk shows. I guess the ones posting griping about all the drama dont realize that is just part of the show. This is what is attracting more audiences. Yeah being a builder myself you want to see more of the technical stuff but just some yahoo of the street flipping through the channels dont care to see the hole chopp jobb or how they measured up the kick in the back. IF you build cars then you already know this stuff. It aint rocket science. The show was cool and alot better then AMercian Idol in the other room followed by Medium, which my wife was watching in the other room. Face it there will never be a 100% instructional how to build a street rod exactly like you like it tv show come on. He could of built something with some billet all over it. And if you had the money these guys got you would not care about some Model A fenders and some bumpers that are cut with a torch. Either way there knowbody on this board that would not take that Sedan. I would take it just cause it would smoke your ass!!!!!!!!

i agree. its entertainment. its not geared toward the guys that do it themselves (us). the general television population does not care that they didnt explain how many inches they Z'd the frame. or how the brakes were bled. or what transmission fluid was used. most people watching it want the drama. they get it on all the 'reality' shows.

i think were just lucky that every now and then it centers around something cool.

but it really sucked that the puppy didnt make it.

    later.

    My 2 centavos…

I taped MG and watched 24 instead. While I watch it (24on Fox) I don’t sit around and wonder how they got from one part of LA to another in less than 10 minutes (impossible). The point is that if you’re going to stare at your TV, take it with a grain of salt and understand it is a fictional world you’re watching. Even if it’s billed as a REALITY show, remember that real real-life has no editing options. Also keep in mind that there job is to sell advertising space by creating programming that appeals to the largest possible audience. I’m sure that if every person on the HAMB decided to boycott MG, Overhauling, OCC, and the rest…. It wouldn’t make a damn bit of difference because there audience base is now very large. And by the way, half of the people on the HAMB watched it anyway. THEY gotcha and THEY know it. I bet that JJ has inspired more posts than just about any single topic on the here.

I also see a lot of you complaining about all the extra drama that they put into these shows and not showing enough actual build details. But doesn’t this happen in a REAL garage? Isn’t a lot of garage time spent bullshitting and F’ing around? You want reality… there you go.

Like someone else said. Get Tivo, record the show, and enjoy it in 1/3 of the time…. AND WATCH 24

I was very disapointed with all the BS, and not much content. They didn't show wheather they boxed the frame{ as we know they had to} or how they mounted the body or anything about the brakes or how they got the spoke wheels mounted to the late rearend, all neat things we could have learned from. And then look at all the work that was done after the build, was that included in that outragious pricing? The show could have been so much better , I was stoked to see Dave Simard on the team, boy could we have learned a few things from him. Well like I said I am very disapointed, it could have been a lot better.--TV

It's kind of pathetic what us poor sappy gearheads have to watch just to get a dribble of what we really like along with a tidal wave of the drama they think we are too stupid to live without. MG isn't about the builds and neither is Jesse, they are about ratings and merchandising. JJ is a talented dude but the show isn't about that. It's about his pissy arogant attitude. He's just a whore plain and simple, who has sold his image for money. And now they pull the strings but let him have his pissy attitude so he thinks he is piloting the ship.
I still think Stacey David has the best format on TV and is proof that we don't need some neanderthal bull crap pandering to keep our attention.
This show could have been so..so cool but instead we get this insult to our intelligence. I will go back to not watching MG again now.

When a used Car salesman calls himself "Honest ...", do you expect him to be?
And a "reality show" is supposed to be Real??
And if HAMBers have to show their disgust of the drama on TV by posting about it, does that make this a drama Thread??

I just saw the Monster Garage episode where the army guys bult the tractor pulling jeep. It showed a lot on how to build it. Not a lot of stupid BS.

By the way tonights Biker Build-off show was taped in Fayetteville, Arkansas. We were there that night.

Sorry you thought the band sucked. The band was Agnostic Front. The main man was Roger Miret. Also from Roger Miret & the Disasters. His car club happens to be the Rumblers. I have listened to Agnostic Front for quite some time now, you don't have to put it on mute. You might have to turn it down a bit if your too old.

  19. I thought the show was entertaining, because of the drama, and not the content of the build. They did leave out a ton of how the car went together, but, it's still better than the MG crew making a Mazda Miata into a jet ski or some shit like that.

I'm afraid in today's modern reality TV that a program showing all of the technical aspects of the build would appeal to a small percentage of viewers.
I know everybody here in HAMBland would love it, but most of the world tuning in for the entertainment value wouldn't dig it. Then ratings would drop and no more Monster Garage, OCC, Biker Build Off, etc. Heck, these shows aren't really a bad way to spend a cold Monday night in the middle of winter. Right? E

I think that sedan is the same one he drove on the copper bike build show when he went back east to learn how to pound copper. Was a shme to cut up a complete car, but the two they made the supposed rat rods on American Hot rod were in much beter shape than that one and they did the same thing.
Put Courtney on a show and I'll watch anything,

I dont have time or care to watch these shows, but I made sure to watch last nights and was disapointed. Just like everyone said it was not enough about building the car. I guess my post is pointless since this has been said ten times now and I am sure you all knew it.

It does suck though since I have been working on a 30 Chevy sedan for over a year and not only did they build one in a week (with their budget) but now I will be stuck talking with douche bags at gas stations when it is done. Thanks Jesse now I cant enjoy my customs or rods with out yuppie jack ass spitting monter garage info they memorized.

    The car was cool
The engine was lame for the car. (quick but lame)
I dont know what the dog had to do with anything
    And the build coverage sucked.

I thought the car was really bitchen.....but the show itself sucked for air. The best part was when Randy (the horses ass) got bit by the mag I laughed my ass off....served him right..RP

The only part I saw boxed is where it was z'ed.

  26. That car was bought at the swap in Rhinebeck in 2002.

Sixteen grand is a lot of money to pay for an a-bone but, when you consider who had it for sale, it's right in his range.

Dave Simard already knew Jesse from years ago and he found teh car for Jesse.

Too bad the car's owner had to come along for the ride.

Yup. Randi Bianci sold the car to Jesse. Probably explains why he wound up on the show seeing as he was the only guy Jesse didn't know or know of.

FWIW, the TV showed a milder side of Randi than what really went on according to sources that were there under the leaking roof in the unheated building.

  27. Ask Blue Bear, he'll probably know. He should be easy to get in contact with. Just call the Orange County, CA Unemployment Office.

I watch these shows for what little fab work I can catch....the rest is just there so there is something to listen to.

as far as jackasses in shops it DOES happen....while it sucks to have one in your shop if is always so much fun when they get bit by a mag, get a flat, get dumped, arrested.....pretty much anything bad.

on my schools formula car team we have a guy or two like that.

I was glad to see jessie voice his honest opinion...seemed like he would have rather kicked him off. I was really hoping he would not give him tools. and on the topic of tools. remember on season one when all you got was a little mac toolbox and some hand tools.....now they get these HUGE cabinets and tools....
