My 69 chevy pickup is viper red, and it is red, Also like the chevy victory red but it's probably a little darker than your looking for. Good luck
My 46 is Rangoon Red over Black and it really gives it more depth and tone in different kinds of light.
Try early 60's mustang "poppy red" , kinda orange-red, depending on the light. It sure looks good on an old-school type hot-rod. I'll try to find a picture to post.....
For a traditional build that wants to be bright red, this is it. Chevrolet Roman Red is a close second. While all of the other suggestions like Viper and Porsche are also good, to my eye they tend to look, i dunno, fake or something? I did a 'Cuda in Porsche India Red with a 2 coats of PPG blue pearl. I dipped a paint stick in the pearl and stirred it into enough clear for 2 even coats and added an extra p*** on some areas I wanted to highlight. The result was pretty kool. It was the last thing anyone would think of and actually real easy to touch up. At low light and streetlight values I had a "g**** soda" look on the highlights, in bright light it was very subtle and made the blue values jump hard. The latest crop of Torch Red (Corvette) is really bright. All of the modern reds MUST BE PAINTED OVER A WHITE BASE. I know that was said already but it's a must if you want a blinding effect. HOK Euro Red over white lays some of the rest to shame if you don't go too much. Maybe 3 coats and a really thin drop coat to even things up. You'll need sungl***es to wash it. If you do Kosmos Red over white you get 2 reds for the price of 1. You get a deep blood red in the garage and a near Torch Red outdoors in the sun. Black, red oxide, and white will net 3 very different colors from the same mix. Red oxide will "dirty it up" to a near OEM look.
finger nail polish ****** red is the best brightest red there is , go to where the girls young ladies dance you will find the best red i PROMISE
I like it best over a yellow base, some people believe that because it's a solid color a base won't make a difference BUT IT WILL. I like red over yellow. Roger
Just an update on the red paint search. I saw a new Dodge Charger on the street a couple days ago and the red really looked good. I went to a dealer today at lunch and they had one on the lot. The color is called Redline 3 Coat Pearl and it is awesome. Until you get right up on it you can't tell it has any metallic in it at all, I've never seen a metallic or pearl red that does that.
In 1974, we had some new Porsches in the shop...one, a 912e, was a new color that year, notably darker red, like blood. It was quite stunning, my apprentice asked if it was a factory color...the new car manager said it was new for 1974. Wish I had looked at the number code.
In 1991 I bought a new Mustang that was Brilliant red. it was an extremely bright true red and didn't have the orangish look of other reds i've seen. The car was parked outside and needed to be buffed out every few months because it faded pretty quick.
Dodge Inferno Red Crystal Pearl I didn't post earlier b/c you said you weren't looking for a pearl or mettalic color, but it has similar properties to the Charger color.
I like the Aztec Red 57 caddy color and in the 90's Honda had a great Red. Just saw a new Mustang with a very red RED.
a Ferrari should be Ferrari-red... this one (ok not really that HAMB friendly) is garnet red again, as it left the factory:
X2!!!!!!!!!!!This is the most RED of RED Ive ever seen.No orange in it,or dark, just RED!!! I painted my '67 Chevy II this color and you wont be disappointed. Brandon
