Im curious about this junk yard. Is it still open? I know they crushed some of it but can i still buy from there?
Haven't been there since Feb '08. Would like to get back there tho, in a big way. If you decide to take a run out, I'd love to go with.
It is all gone-----they sold out due to health reasons and the local goverment getting on there ass too many times....I sure miss that yard...a lot of good stuff got crushed.....stan
That is so sad to hear that all the cars got crushed, I would have liked to see some of them through this forum, Keep America / Australia beautifull "leave the old junkyards alone"
So damned sad- tho I would not say a 'lot' of good stuff went- cars there were fairly rough. Still, I did get a bunch of parts for my '40 COE, but (2) '59 Buicks offered up nothing. Anyone in the area please snap a pic or 2 of the remaining fields...
there are a few cars scattred there but not like it usted to be i just got a complete 60 chevy dash there for a good price. you just have to bee real nice to sandy and she will let you in. also dont show up with a new car or fancy clothes or the price goes way up.
This is a way old thread. Sandy used to have an old LTD with no exhaust. She would deliver you to the area in the yard you wanted to see. She also hit every pothole on the way! I heard her whole life story in about the first 15 minutes of talking to her. She's pretty cool.
Sandy claimed "80%" is gone, but aerial pic & in-person, road-side inspection today sure makes it look lik it's closer 95%. Why anything is left is a puzzler to me; it's not like they had 24" oaks growing thru them or they were choice moneymakers. "Open only by appointment, if I feel like it" ~ Sandy, but you'll have to be specific and it'd have to be there. Thusly, the pointlessness of leaving anything. The 5 vehicles my buddy & I mentioned were not in the yard anymore. On the plus side, 1 at least, a '59 Buick convert, she said went to Colorado... so perhaps a few made it into garages here & there. Sandy seems like a nice person, just really really worn out from the life; liars, thieves, trespassers, and the disrespectful. I read one online post where a guy laughed in Hoffert's face at a price and walked away- there's no need for that IMO. Hoffert's was a real haul for me (Googlemaps sez 2hrs, 15 min), and I only got inside there twice, but I still miss the fact that all that great iron is gone. RIP, HUAP, circa 1960-2010.

thats a shame for us but probably a blessing for the owner...I was down there in 2002 or so and it was overwhelming how much was in there!
plug these into google maps or google earth- same place you remember? There's a bit of something there, but doesn't look like much or vintage. 40.0730209350586 -78.8656768798828
Thanks!! found it.. Couldn't remember Henny's last name, it's Hitechew, and the property is 466 Hitechew road, just north of Rt. 30.. Yard is practically empty, but it look like a couple cars are still there. I remember a bunch of Studes and 50's era cars including our old 58 Pontiac ambulance from Hollsopple Volunteer Fire Co. Bill
^ The pic GoogleMaps shows is the same one GoogleEarth says is from 2005. GE's 2008 pic shows the yard just about totally empty except for a few buses.
