Over on the main board, someone brought back a post about the BFD, and in it SamIam had some great tips for getting started going on drag racing on the cheap. In it, he mentioned getting someones started but not finished T bucket project and using that as a start point. He also recommended solid mounting the rear end to the frame. I'm not clear on what it'd look like with the typical T bucket kickups in the frame rails, so I'm looking for pics... yeah, I'm that guy! LOL I'm really really intrigued by the old A/SR's from the end of the "gasser" era, and most of those show coilovers in the rear, not solid mount. Any help? Thanks! JK
A/SR= A/street roadster had the same rules as gassers which were coupes and had to have 4 wheel suspension only altereds and dragsters, comp coupes and comp roadsters were allowed no rear suspension
Here's a link to a previous thread on this, with at least three variations on kicked frames mounted rigid.
Dick- Many thanks! If I had the time and money, yhat RE HA/GR we talked of would be done! Jeff/21- I thought they didn't merge classes until post 68? Regardless, thanks! JK
yes street roadster, modified sports, and gas coupes and sedans were merged but before they all had similar rules so nhra decided group them together they got rid of competition roadsters/ coupes they also made big changes in the stock classes
Why do you have to kick up and over? MY HA/GR has no kick goes right under and bolted to frame. No U bolts just plates welded onto diff housing. great for low weight low down drag cars.
We took a similar approach, but set the frame rails on top of the axle to get the weight up for weight transfer. There are many ways to cook a cat!
