Ok - so i know how good the HAMB is as voicing opinions - so i need some. I have looked ALL over for a 1940-1941-1942-1943 Chevy sedan in Hot Rod clothes. Most seem to wear the streetrod outfit. I have been looking at this one but just need a little help with the potential. I know its there, just need to see it before I plunge. I know a good drop is in order, I wonder about a chop - I am torn. I also LOVE the look of the lake pipes on them similar to "The Blue One" featured in Deadend some time back. Someone please give me some help / ideas. - VOH
My vote is to "hot rod it out" minus the chop. A LITTLE drop is fine if you feel so compelled.... if you're putting together a Hot Rod. If you're going for more a cruiser look then I guess (for those who like the look) chop, drop and smooth. Just seems like everybody is doing this and I'm not so sure it's an improvement. Get a hold of some OLD SCHOOL back in the day photos to see what the Hot Rods of yester-year looked like. Just my 2 cents. My opinion is just that.. my opinion. Have fun, do your own thing to it.. you'll hear many voice what they would do.. just as I have... Do your own thing to make it your own and to give you the most joy you can get out of it. Good luck!
Go to my profile page and look in my albums for "My Billet Car". This car has over 40 body mods and with a different set of rims on it might be the look your going for. Mods include chopped , channeled , nosed , sectioned hood .......
soft spot for the 41, my first one had 425 Olds and early Olds rear. Drove to Sun, Sin and Tin, in 1974 I think. Slam it but no chop and black it out.
now this is one that really could go the G***ER look. It would be refreshing to see something done that actually looks like it belonged in that group. A slight raising of the front end, some pie cuts in the rear, a lopey sb/fourspeed and steep gears. Hell, tack the front sheet metal together and make it flip.
I say "Chop and Drop" add WWs and nice caps. That way you won't become another "Brick in the wall" like the back ground in the car pic. LOL Tom (Tired Old Man)
Chop n drop will look tough, just droppin it will look good to as a nice cruiser..its all up to u on what look you want, maybe try to check out some similar looking tudor sedans and see which route u wanna venture down if your not sure yet.
Thanks guys. I did go back again and start looking at the 40's fords. I know they are not very similar, but about as big or even bigger. There were a number of those that are merley lowered and cleaned up. Looks like a winner to me - no need for a chop. thanks again. VOH
first of all u said it n a nut shell U HAVE A CHEVY, THEN U ADD 1941 CHEVY, the worst one i have ever seen both on the hot rod side and the street rod side was tough as hell lookn, so decide what u like lookn at, and go for it, there is no way u can screw it up, remember it is a chevy................
mild or wild?either way looks good to me. i think nose down with a little rubber rake would look real nice.
i agree , to enjoy it it does have to be somewhat practical, a chop is overated and alot of work for little.
