I try not to add to the HAMB drama, but man - lighten up on the "it has to be glossy" kick.

Nothing to lighten up about what Don said,,the LARS does not allow unfinished cars in the show,,, period.

The car is cool and I expect it may be a finished car someday,,with shiny paint. HRP

    why the drama?

nice freaking car. it will be even nicer with paint, although like others have admitted- i myself would have a hard time painting it, not because i'm some kind of patina weirdo, but because i wouldn't be able to stop driving it.

NOT trying to make this a ******* contest, BUT, since being a member of LAR since 1971, it has always been that rule "Only finished cars for exhibition".
Sorry if some of you think some of the club are "Stuffy old ****s" bragging about all the money, but you and others would calm down a bit if they knew just how much is donated to cancer research, dental chairs, City of Hope, etc.---Let alone the cost of the fairground facilities, clean up, porta potties, etc.
I doubt that many of you were around when we had to reach into our own pockets just to rent Hollywood Bowl parking lot for a day back in the early 60's---Before any swap ideas began.
Now as far as the stickers being handed out in the parking lots----Back to my first thread,----It doesn't matter how you got a sticker in the parking lot---What DOES matter is, over the years the headlight sticker has been sort of a "Badge" that the owner has been to our show & came thru registration, given a quick check as a "finished open car" & welcomed to the show for the public to enjoy.
I used to run the registration every year until retiring & moving to Bend,Oregon in 1984, & still drive my '32 roadster back to Pomona & help out every 2-3 years, where needed.
The "Sticker Story" is: When LAR club show moved to Great Western Exhibition Center, open cars would start backing up on the side street & some overheating etc.--After observing this, the following year I came up with a way to move everything along faster so exhibitors would be in place at 8AM, show time.
As each owner was registered, I put a small colored round dime sized sticker on the left headlight with matching number on registration.

This served 2 purposes, registering & picking up engraved pewter mug at end of show at 4PM. All the owner had to do was bring back the sticker from headlight to match registration number on my list, which worked out great, all I did was change colored stickers over the years until we moved to Pomona in 1980 & the show went to a 2 day affair which the vendors really appreciated.
Magoo had some small oval shaped stickers made up for LAR club members that were a similar to our official windshield decals, only in all black with silver lettering.
Liking this new approach for the next years show, it became the first of a kind sticker to start applying the following year.
So, each year the color would change & guys would start arranging them at various angles & formations----Again, each year showing off their "Badges" from previous years of participation.
Stickers went this way until our clubs 50th anniversary in 2007, then the "Sticker" took a whole different look, as you can observe since then.

At 78 years old now, I thought you just might like a little education on the "Sticker Story" without ******* any one off, let alone a ******* contest!!

the badge of honor for me is driving my cars 1800 miles (4 times) one way to the show, while listening to locals whine about the 45 minute drive over the g****vine.

they realy feel small when they find out that my mom DROVE HER OWN ROADSTER there 7 times.

I have a LAR show sticker on my wifes Yukon headlight. I just thought it was cool. I was planning on flying out to the LAR show but after hearing how upset one guy gets over having a sticker on one of the coolest Roadsters around (by the way Danny Awesome Job) Im not sure that is the kind of show I want to attend.

I say keep the roadster and the sticker as is. If this was my car ( I wish) I would say it is finished.
