Odd fog lamp ID help request

I have a friend who's father recently p***ed away and in the garage was this old school fog light. We were intrigued by it because of what is "written" on it. It says; Made In The USA, GE, MAZDA, Fog Lamp. It seems weird because it looks old school but has Mazda and Made In The USA on it. Anyone know what it's application is? Thank you.

 

Mazda was either a U.S. electrical products manufacturer or the name of a product line from back around WWI, long before the name was used by a Japanese auto firm.

*****6 is right, the Mazda that made electrical bulbs had no relation to the Japanese car manufacturer of the same name. You'll find lots of the old bulb and reflector lights with Mazda bulbs/

 

is there anything scribbed or written on the small "hump" on the top of the light? thats usually where the company logo is.

They look typical of the Unity Brand lamps sold in from the 30's throught he late 50's.
The lamp housing was pretty standard. the small crest deal could be plain say unity of be embosed with manufacturer logos. Sold through the aftermarket and as dealer installed accessories they were a popular addition.

Mazda was a Persian diety know as the light giver, part of the Zoroastrianism beliefe system. The name was applied to a line of automotive and household light bulbs sold by General Electric in beginning the early 1900's.
