I'm doing some scale drawings right now for the re-design of my ch***is and I'm thinking about running a 29" diameter rear tire on the car, and wanted to know if anyone is running this or close, and would like to post some pics. Its a custom frame, but to put it simple the car is waaayyy down on the ground, and channeled. Not cartoon car, but as far as you can go before it looks goofy. Any pics would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!
Not for certain -- I'd have to wander down to the shop to double-check -- but I believe my Coker Cl***ics are close. Maybe 28 1/2" or 28 3/4". They're "insufficiently traditional" since they're radials, but I'm loving the way they ride.
29" is roughly a 700 x16 Firestone bias ply. I have used that size on a couple of cars including the sport coupe in my avatar. How they look really depends mostly on the frame and suspension setup and if the body is channeled....and yours is. My sport coupe sits high..but my old roadster was low..on a duece frame..same tires way different look I think the channeling will actually have more of an effect on the overal look and body to tire height proportion than anything else Here's one that my friend Todd is building that's way low. He's using something close to that rear tire size.
Great guys! Thanks a ton for the pics, and thanks jerry-that car is just a little lower than what mine is. I know a lot of guys don't dig the big rear tire over the trunk thing, but I like it. Trying to get the look and the engineering to work right with each other, and tall tires just look good on coupes in my opinion. Thanks again!
