I was over at a friends house today for the first time. He took me out back and showed me what appears to be a '53 Olds 2-door covered in Kudzu. There's no gl***, a fair amount of rot, and the interior is heaped with leaves - but, almost all the stainless trim is on the car and appears to be in fantastic shape.
I think the car is past really saving, plus it's ringed in pretty well by some very large oaks. My question is whether the trim is worth harvesting? Is there any demand and/or value?

I could use the rear end yoke off the drive line.

I would save the trim and anything else that is good, if you don't use it its always good swap meet material. Chances are someone needs the parts that are on that car.

Does anything kill Kudzu, I want to be ready for it when it hits the Mason/Dixon?

I may be interested in the gauges and speaker grille cover on the dash if they're in good shape.

Looks like there's good interest. I didn't check out the driveline...with the kudzu all over it plus it was dark out when I got to take a look at it I decided to wait for another day. It'll probably be a month or so when I get back over there but I'll try to make it before spring and the growth starts again to see what's all there. His house it about 2 1/2 hours from me, so I have to plan in advance - or get him to pull the stuff.

2 door post? In that case I'd save both doors and cut the quarters out for a future 2 door conversion on a 4 door. From the looks of it, this thing will part out real easy (you've got half of it sold already from posters above) so I'd try to pull the whole thing out and cut it up. You'll make yourself some money and you'll be saving some good parts before someone digs it out and s****s it. We need more people to do that.

md8810 was looking for the 2dr hdtp emblems that reside between the rear side gl*** and back gl***. Perhaps you can PM him and see if you can help him out

I just realized in the OP, I typed 2-door. It's supposed to be a 4-door: Sorry! My friend is going to try to get me some pics, but his back is blown out so I don't know if that will be today or when.

Sounds pretty indestructable. Wait until the stinkbugs get down there, nothing F's with them. They are about 1/8 thick and get into EVERYTHING. They ALSO came from China.

I had to look up this Kudzu stuff too. Sounds like a real nasty plant. I'd rather not come in contact with a plant that makes me feel like the body ******ers are real. I do like the picture of the house, it seems like something out of a Tim Burton film.

they make sprays, but the only real way to kill it is to keep pulling it up over and over, eventually it gives up, usually takes a couple of years to kill it. I would save everything you can on that car, SOMEONE somewhere needs it, or will need it. if you don't have room, i'm sure somebody on this board will take it off your hands and store it.
