I have a 57 chevy gasser that I need some help on a bench seat. Original front seats are way out of the budget for me so I was wondering if anyone has had any luck fitting a different front bench seat into a tri five. I have a set of bucket seats out of a mid 60s olds but I would like to hold out for the bench seat. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

My dad put one in a '55 once out of an early- mid-80s Riviera (before they downsized them). I hated the style of it (this was 22+ years ago), but it fit pretty well. The only problem is just about any car large enough to have a bench seat like that, made in the last 30 years, will probably have power (heavy).

if its going to be a gasser you won't need in the back so go with a front bench seat out of a 4 dr 57. I have seen this done before and looks good, and the good thing nobody wants them and most will just give them away to get them out of their way. I kept one for my gasser project but they are heavy good luck

I have 65 corvair buckets in my 56 that work great. The only thing I wish I had done differently with them was tilt them back a little more, on the "to do list" for next year.

If you are running a rol cage with the side bars you can use a bench seat from a mid 80's regal or cutlass or malibu it is a little narrower.....
    Jus my 02 cents worth.............:D

I agree with the Corvair buckets. Nobody wants a Corvair and the seats are less desirable also. I was given this pair at the end of a swap meet when the guy didnt want to load them. I like the look of low backs in a gasser.

The 56 is storage now but the next time I go there for parts I will take some close up pics of the seat mounts. If I recall when I put those in I used 1-1/2 X 2-1/2 10 gauge tube about 18" long. The tube that went parallel to the tunnel had to be recessed into the floor abuot an inch. Its been a while since I installed them but I will go back through the****y./build photos and see what I have.

If your gonna use a roll bar with side bars, a seat out of a 53-54 chevy car will give you the extra room.
