Just trying to find something to do as i am stuck in the house with broken ribs!! this is what i was at before coming off my bike. the bumbers on my chevy are crap so I am painting them ,and putting the rear lights in the overiders..
for the flashers i am useing clear lens with orange bulbs(new vw ) brake lights I cut from a old red lens. I shaped the lens the way i wanted and used a hot air gun to shape over the overider ,or heat it and slowy push into shape inside the overider.I then mark around the lens and cut out the hole in the overider .
still not finished I glue the lens into the overider then because i am painting them I can use bondo to get them flush ,you can sand the lens with fine paper and when the lot is clearcoated it looks good ...

Looks great, but I gotta agree with sailor, painted bumpers are gonna look horrible. I'm saying that because I had 'em on my '54.
I honestly think you'd be better off removing the bumpers entirely and saving up your dough. Think about all the extra work you're putting yourself through.

How much will it cost to get 'em rechromed over there anyway?

you may want to look into some of the new coatings that look as good as chrome and can be put over plastic and other materials.

    looks great.
