I love the way it is, A lot of cars needs a little top chop to look better, this is not the case, this looks goooooooooooood the way it is, PERFECTION!
Not the car to chop! look at pictures first and then decide. I have one and it is nice the way it is and better yet find someone who has a chopped one and ride in it and then decide...besides they already look chopped. your car though...nice car!
That car is absolutely beautiful! i think it might take away from how classy it is, if it was chopped. I vote run it tall!
The pictures that "slick willie" posted, the top one looks funky like something's outta place. The bottom one has real nice proportions. I'll bet there's maybe an inch difference in the 2. Just sayin. I applaud your choice bro. I'd be visiting Rikster's pages a bunch as he has archived some of the best examples throughout history of a chopped 36 3W. Like a Merc, there's some things that just work and that's what makes it a good choice, even though the practice isn't completely unique. There's a reason why flatheads are popular and almost geting common. There's a reason why SBCs are common. There's a reason why you made the right choice, and if it were a Deuce, 3 or 5W, the responses would have been overwhelming to chop it...'cept for those who, uh, well never mind. Can I assume you'll take us through the process with pics and such? Please?
I think its a good choise billy, I have put over 40,000 on mine since the chop, very compfertable. And tell the EMS counter guy to pull his head out on resale, I've been offered alot of money for mine and I think its the copped look. I am not to good at getting pictures around, but if you look at my albumn I have some build pictures.
When in doubt get the saws all out! If your going to keep it, chop it. If it's for sale or going to be used as trade bait leave it alone.
I've had my '36 tudor for over 25 years and it's pretty much stock. Your ride would look good chopped alright but for me its a hard choice. I'd probably just keep it as is and enjoy it....
what else are your plans for the rest of the project? custom / race it that make the difference, stock with a chop no!! real hot rod HELL YA
don't get fresh w/ me Billy P. I'm all for a good chop on this one... but I would also be very particular about what you want and who you allow to cut on it. In Texas, I'd turn to Gary Howard or Bob Bleed... look... see? he's already chomping at the bit to do it.
