I have an AOD trans in an old hotrod with a 351W. How far should the yolk go in to the end of the trans? The woodie has bags all around, and after doing all the gyrations to see how much the yolk moves in and out, it only moves 1/2". The trans is a mock up unit so there is no tailshaft in the housing and the yoke goes all the way in..It will need shortening but I'm trying to figure how much ...Ideas?

do the old standby, push the shaft in till it bottoms on the trans, then measure center/center on the yokes-then subtract 1'' from the total-works every time.

I thought the same thing but wonder if, because there is no shaft in the trans, whether the yoke will go in farther? Any idea?

  4. i'm not familiar with your transmission , but i would ***ume with no shaft inside it that the yoke may go in further. i would fine another complete ****** and see if that is correct

I'd push something like a coat hanger wire inside the thing and see where it bottoms out, try 3 or 4 places to be sure. Measue the length and then compare with what you have, if its the same or real close, you got it.
