Hi all - been semi-lurking for a couple of years. Joined just over a year ago...need to get that HAMB Membership paid.

Been into cars for years - started actually working on a friends 51 Chevy when I was 15. Bought my first car in 1981 - a 1965 Malibu SS. Took three years to build it and had it for almost 15 years before finances and family were more important....

Was into my motorcycle for a few years, had a bad accident and decided that I needed to move on from that. Was into VWs and air cooled Porsches for a few years and when I hit 45 kinda decided that it was time to get what I always wanted. No sense being too old to work or enjoy your car. I started looking for an early 30' Chevy. My ideal was an older street rod (the non-billet era) that was in good solid condition and maybe needed to be redone again. I knew I didn't have the money to do a full restoration and build a car from scratch, so my method looked like it might work. I saw way too many cars for sale for $35k where the owners all said that they had 60k to 100k in the build process. I don't have that kind of money to be able to take that kind of loss!!! I looked for a year and half and finally had "the talk" with my wife and started to seriously shop. There were a few strong candidates, but I finally found a 31 5 window coupe with a rumble seat, 327/TH400 combo, PS/PB, A/C (I'm in Florida) and all original steel - no fibregl***, no patch panels and in great solid shape. The car is a driver and I plan to keep it that way. Someday I'll get around to re-doing it...

I've tracked the owner ship of the car back two owners so far and have the name of the previous owner/builder. It's someone famous - but I'm gonna confirm that before making that claim.

Personally, I'm married, two kids - son 20 and daughter 17. I'm the technical team lead for my local utility company's billing system.

My dad has a 1968 Camaro convertible RS/SS 396/M21 car that's just about as close to original as you can get. I have a stake in that so it's coming my way someday...but it's not really a driver - it's just too nice.

Anyway, Hi! We have a little cruise in at our local Krispy Kreme every Saturday morning from 7 to 9 - I usually check that out. I'm close to Daytona and have been going to the Spring show/swap meet and the Turkey Run for 5 or 6 years.

Now that's an intro. Welcome to the site. I was shocked to see it was a 31 Chevy. I owned a 32 Chevy sedan for about 20 years, sold it in 98 to finance my 50 Chevy pickup. Continue to enjoy the site.
