I know the 216/236/261 chevy is a pretty damn long engine, around 6" longer than an 8ba I believe. just curious what it would look like in an A?

I want to run a full hood and I was thinking of only cutting about a 12" wide section to recess my firewall, was curious if that would look super goofy or not?

sounds legit in my head, but like I said was just curious if any one else out here has done it already or not?

any pics would be super duper appreciated!

This is relevant to my interests.

  3. Don't bump your knees on the exhaust manifold. With a hood on? It would look like an A with a bump in the cowl.

Seriously, if I were going to run an inline in an A, I'd either put it on a custom frame and stretch it, or set the body back on the stocker (easier with a pickup or shortened 4dr). Interior space in those can be a premuim without having 1/3 of a motor stuck under the cowl. Unless you're like 4'3" tall.

In fact there's a local guy with a rat-rod-ish cut-down sedan that has a Chevy 230 or 250 six for power. He got the proportions just right on it, and it looks pretty good, with no hood on it - it's just unpainted and the welds aren't even ground for the chop/section.

Those Chevy 6s have been around since the 30s and you think someone hasn't tried dropping one into a model "A"?!

Here's a couple of picutres of mine - its on a fabricated frame - 111" wheelbase, but could have been built shorter.

A 32 frame has a 106" wheelbase - push the front crossmember forward 2", use a short waterpump and run an electric fan in front of the radiator, and you should be able to fit the stovebolt 6 into the engine bay with an untouched firewall

Del that's Iaccono's Jr. drag car. They had a matching '34 3w that race along with it. I have the Rodder's Journal Article on it and I'll bring it to breakfast. It's a 301 with a wayne head and 12 port. What a flathead slayer and I believe the first Hot Rod to beat a motorcycle to win top eliminator. It's one of the raddest roadsters ever!!!

TRJ featured a bare metal roadster a couple years back, I think it was a model A, and a pickup, pretty sure not a model A. Both stovebolt powered. On the roadster they recessed the firewall, I'll get those pics to you.

Word... just not a Chevy six, but a Hudson 6. I'm thinking stretched frame.

I have those issues as well. Problem with a bunch of these cars is they are running longer wheel basis then 103.5"
