A little Daimler Hemi (2.5 litre?) would also look good in there, without being too expensive to run. There was a morrie ute with one featured in Street rodder in 1981-82?? that looked real cool.
i do miss my old moggy but being 16 and not having a pot to piss in meant i could'nt build the g***er i wanted to, was bored the other night and messed around on photoshop and made one look like a 40s style custom so i think plans are a foot later after the A is done to get one and build it for a daily little mini custom
WOW! I'd drive the daylights outta that car. Whne the engine dies...a 2.8 ford or a 4.3 chevy or buick would be a great little addition. I have the same shifter in my Apache...if it pisses you off just pull the pin and walk away.
Nice Moggy Minor - very cool-looking . I built this '61 Mo for my brother about 10 years ago (or so) . It's sportin' a 1275 engine , twin SU's , ribcase gearbox , 3:9 ratio Sprite rear , poly bushings all around ... it's a hoot to drive ! It's been driven a ton since it's back on the road , because that's what it built for .
I'll play..... mine the Mokan Morris can be seen making a hair ball p*** at the HAMB drags for the last couple years.... 10.40 and it went streight.. Roach
A guy that has a space in the shop I rent has been restoring one for a while. He re-did the suspension swapped out the engine and turned the hard top into a convertible. Ill try to get some pics of it tomorrow. Enjoy yours. Cool car...
i think you could improve the handling realy easy while modifing the upper a arms on the front sus., besides this ... awsome
nice ride palumbo, looks like a wild ride roach. like that colour keith. cheers guys. did'nt expect this much reaction to humble morris!!!! chris.
heres a pic of rear seat, this was made up by sailmaker at work during breaks etc, not much time went into it, the vinyl was roof material suppose to go with my hotrod pop!!! its got piped edges, velcro to hold down. made to my patterns so if it don't fit i know who to blame!!! at least the kids will have something comfy(ish) to sit on!!!
I've always liked the Morris', but thought the tops looked too high. Your's looks like what Morris should have originally! That top chop is the perfect height! Can't imagine anyone mistaking it for a VW bug, even if the Morris name wasn't on it. They're way cooler! I get people asking if my Austin is an English Ford all the time, but mine has no markings anywhere, so I expect that. On a sidenote; do you know what the car on the trailer is in your 2nd. pic on page #1 of this thread?
hi, i've had problems for a while opening the bootlid, had problems getting latch off to access the handle bolts so decided to remove lid, it was then i found out the square bar on handle was'nt long enough and was only just into latch resulting in handle turning then clicking as bar slipped. i wondered if a pop handle would fit, well with a little filing and welding it will, just so happens i've a brand new one in stock of parts i've got. did'nt have a key for old one, so that killed two birds with one stone!!!(also saved me best part of £30!) also i've got the paint for body so as lid was of seemed rude not to strip it, weld holes up that are'nt needed an get some paint on it. this is where its at now. some rust spots to deal with but nothing major.
sweet looking ride, love those little motors, got 1380 in my sprite, datsun 5-speed,3.70 rear gears ALL from a morris. RD
cheers guys, i thought major rust around the handle but turned out to be bondo, cleaned all off, rewelded a bit then fitted new handle/lock, took a bit of working, also me big fingers along with wrenches and nuts don't all fit between the skins at same time result: loss of temper until all tightened!!! will get some pics once refitted onto morris.
Love this Morris! The old banjo wheel is neat! Are the rear windows painted, or replaced with sheetmetal? If it's gl*** I'd clear off the paint, I like gl*** better.
