Found this yesterday near Blackville, SC. 29 chevy turned depression pickup. In a past life it was a humane society truck with a wooden dogbox in the back. Man says it is for sale, I have his # if anyone is interested.
Neat how the shed poles and windshield posts have about the same angle. Must have been one hell of a wind!
Preetty cool. The metal looks to be in good shape, judging from the body "slump" I'm sure the wood is nonexistant. Wouldn't be a bad project for someone who had the wood skills or wanted to replace it with tubing.
Those old Chevs take it pretty hard...looks to be mostly there tho, That whole area looks like a nice place to poke around for ol stuff!
He had several interesting old things back there. Just happened to see it while driving back to the hotel, finally stopped. I'll try to get the other things uploaded soon.
Not so sure it is a 29 bro..... and yea the old chevs dont handle mother nature or it's little wood eating creatures so well....... but thats what makes them kool when they are done.... you dont see a million of them or fiberglass knockoffs.... more work, more unique. Leon
This puzzled me so i went snooping for my old chev book...but couldnt find it...however, the 1929 chev truck has the double impressions on the door and the grill looks like my 29 shell only banged up.... the back of the cab and the box look messed up....but according to what the net shows me it should be a 29.... however the dash is not like the 1929 chev car dash... Leon check this chev tow truck out... http://www.monmouthcountyconcours.com/plugins/albums/slideshow/slideshow.html?bgType=4&bgStyle= I believe it maybe a 1930 or a late 29 as the side panels on the 29 didnt have as many fins as that
Chevrolet had steel disk rims in '27 (and earlier)- not sure about the fenders, but the shell is '27... may be a conglomeration?
I'm struggling with this.... looks to me like a sedan cut into a truck......since 1929 and 30 look very similar ...humm...but then again it does look like a 29-30 sedan hacked into a truck... but i'm looking....lol
It is actually in damn good shape, aside from the**** end being hacked off. The bed is actually well done, the inner box is wooded, and the covers are nicely shaped and tacked.
Hi there, do you think the owner would be interested in selling me any parts off that '52 chevy... and then posting them to Australia?
He'll sell you the whole thing.......It is in pretty good shape, small hole in the driver's side floor that I could see. email him ..... mcleod@barnwellsc.com
Ok, so the dash looks very very much 1927 ish...and the fenders seem to vary from picture to picture ... the back window on this truck looks alot like the back window in a 27 sedan... the wheels do look the same as 27... took alot of snooping around...but use your imagination http://www.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=http://www.jcristmuseum.org/chevy27-031507.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.jcristmuseum.org/chevy.SHTML&usg=__iNt7JoA3IghNAm8qpih0fFY6VCM=&h=314&w=396&sz=22&hl=en&start=4&um=1&itbs=1&tbnid=LsDGeczgCucvvM:&tbnh=98&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3D1927%2Bchevrolet%2Bsedan%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us%26ndsp%3D20%26tbs%3Disch:1 click on the 1927 picture
I ment '27, not '28...hit the wrong key when typing. The grill shell, dash and hood all look to be 1927.
Thats a 27 28ish Willys Whippet sedan. The belt line wraps around the base of the windshield and the dash looks just like the one in my 28 Willys.
I didn't try the hood to see whats there, but it appears to have the engine through the louvers. I think it is really complete, the rust out is at the very bottom panels and very few dents and dings.
it s not a 29 or 30 but if you get the hood open look at the id tag on drvers side of cowl it should have a jod # the first two numbers are the year of the car it should look like job no 30557 this is the id for 30 chevy sedan 2dr the # should be simular
