This thread serves no particular reason, other than to mention how much I enjoy my grandson,.. who is fast becoming my Shop buddy !:). I have the opportunity to babysit him one or two times a week,... And it's always a bit of a adventure.

Recently A very good friend of mine here on the HAMB, contacted me about a car I had listed for sale,... When I found out he wanted it, It was more about figuring out how he was going to get it. (He has a vision for it and I wanted him to have it) We worked out a trade,... And all is well,... :)

Last Tuesday, I took my Grandson Ike to the shop,... he helps "Papa" a lot down at the shop,... In fact, he gets really bummed out on days I babysit him, and for one reason or another we cant go to the shop that day. As we walk into the shop, first thing he sees is this 1927 Model T Roadster, I just brought home,.....

His eyes got big ,.. and he said,... "Wow papa !,.. look how tall that car is !"
He had to get in it right away,... And as I was working, he was perfectly content to drive from here to California in that Model T,.... He is well on his way to becoming a "car guy" :D It reminds me of my Sons when they were little,....

How about it? do you have a special little person, that your bringing up to share your p***ion of cars with ? Cars are a fantastic catalyst to open conversation , and make it easy to talk about all kinds of things. What a blessing we have to be able to share this p***ion with future generations.

This thread appears to follow the guidelines, hopefully it wont be deleted,...
So lets see and hear about you special little garage buddy.

Heres Ike,.. blasting down Route 66 , at a hundred miles a hour,... Well thats how fast he told me he was going !:D
    [IMG]

Here he is at a stop light,.. waiting for a race.

And heres the T the first time I seen it,.... I have no Idea what the future holds for this Tin Lizzy,.... but for the time being it looks like it will have some adventures with Ike at the wheel ! He calls it the "T-Pot" :D

That's awesome man!! What an incredible grandfather. I really wish my father was around to be a grandpa to my son. He missed him by a few years but I know he already knows my son Memphis very well and is looking down with a grin ear to ear. I can't wait til my little buddy can hang out in the shop and ride around with his proud father which is me!

JJ how come your face is so hairy but you don't have a manly red chest-fro sticking out of your lumberjack shirt.

Have you been speedo modeling again? ;)

Btw Great shot of the Wife, Little M, and You. I love your garage.

My three year old son is my "car buddy"! I also have a five month old son who will join us "working" on cars when he gets a little older. By the way, that "T" may need a little "tweeking" to hit 100 mph! Awesome car though!

As much fun as he has with the Model T,... He really liked the last Deuce Roadster,.... I think the "T-Pot" will make a exit,... and were going to start on one of the other Deuces. Ol' Papa has a hard time getting into and out of the drivers door on the T,.... This of course makes my shop buddy laugh really hard at me,.. then tell my wife, and everybody else about it. :D

Great "Papa" story. My shop "buddy" is my 10 yr old daughter...She does her best to learn as much as she can, hell, she prob'ly knows the contents of my rolling tool box better than I do.

PS, JJ, you have a beautiful family, keep up the good work and show that boy the ropes.

The way I see it is,.. anytime you can get your child or grandchild out in the garage and work on stuff together, they are not only learning something,.. but your learning more and more about them. Your building your relationship,.. and memories.

Lets face it guys,.. for a lot of us with grandchildren, the road behind us is a lot longer than the road ahead of us,.... Our life's are full of memories, and to a large part all about memories,.... What we do with our kids and grandkids, builds memories in there life's that will hopefully last a lifetime,.... and maybe, someday they can share those memories with there children and grandchildren.

Some kids don't get into cars,.... I wouldn't force them into it,... (I was just lucky), What ever there p***ion is,.. find time to share in it with them,.... in turn they might just want to share in your p***ion as well,... It's not always about the cars,... But, its always about the people.

If Ike can get his feet on the pedals of that T he is old enough to drive it. Our Hillary was about 6 years old sitting behind the wheel of my 1912 T in the driveway and hollered over "I can touch the pedals!" "Great" I said and I backed it out into the road and set the brake lever in nutral and told her to push the clutch pedal in and hold it there and steer. Driving a T planetary transmission is real easy, remember the first owners just got out of a horse drawn wagon. Up the road to see Grandma and back home. Great memory for both of us, that was over 20 years ago, but still very clear to me.

Well,... I am actually doing more work in it, than on it,.. I really love going down there to work,.. but!, I don't have any heat at the moment, and being cement block & brick, It gets a little nippy in there,... I am looking for a 50ft. Radiant Tube heater. I think that will do the trick,... but with Christmas coming,... Ol' Santa's little "Contra Fund" is fading fast.

The temperature up here is hovering around 30 Degrees during the day,... I wear Carhart coveralls ,... but the hands, feet & face get down right cold !

I "might" have a trade for a slightly used 40ft. Radiant heater. Thanks for asking !:)
