Whatever you like, whatever you can afford, whatever you have laying around, but I do like the big block ford idea.

Canada didn't use the 6 cylinder engine. You would have had the 239 V8 originally.

Does the truck have a column shifter or was it a floor shift? Several different transmission possibilities.

I am pretty sure its a column shifter, there's no hole in the floor to suggest that its a floor shifter, this is the picture of the steering column. I do believe that you can see what I think is the side shifter

I'm with P-Townkustoms on this one. I think I'll punk if I see another sbc in one of these. I'll add sbf to this also. If you don't go with a flathead (my 1st choice) do something different. Old Chrysler hemi, Nailhead, 409 or Y-Block. But it's your truck, put what you want in it.

Check for a small tag on the uper right side of the fire wall. and also check the bulk head of the cawl under the hood. Some times the numbers is stamped on it. It could be covered with filler if some had redone the truck

Also it the radiator support is still in it check to see with set of holes it is bolt to on the frame cross member and the inner fenders. If its bolt to the rear holes it was a v8 if the front holes its a I6

no cheezy corporate wellfare gm products. A 87-93 mustang 302 rollermotor with the t5 trany you can put a long shifter handle on it. Also you will get good performance and milage. IT will be a blast to drjve.

I would have hoped the guy has figured out what came in there in the last two years since he has posted. I never can figure out why people will unearth an old thread and post an answer to a question that was asked years ago
