Hi all, Well, where do I start? I've wanted a hot rod since age 10. An opportunity has presented itself today; I drove 320km to inspect 2 x 1937 (I think) Plymouth cars, one is a roller (however still dilapidated) the other is a shell & ch***is that the weather has not been kind to. I have checked out a '36 chev elsewhere, but it was incomplete, and was talked up way beyond the reality of what it was - a hack job. I'm an old auto electrician by trade, so there's at least one part I can do for nothing. I've been in the Industrial Automation / packaging industry for 16 years, so i can cut & weld, & understand a few principles. I have no idea how long my build-to-be will take me; however, I get my kicks out of fabbing stuff at home in the man shed. I spent the last few years on & off making a 1/4 scale radio controlled drag rail. Now that's done, I think it's time to have a shot at a 1:1 scale car for myself. I wanted to find something that was at least a 4 seater, and had a roof. Not a show pony, rather something I could drive all the time. Anyhow, I need to start asking around and checking what you guys do. I am so new to this, so forgive me if I ask a real dumb question,eh. I plan on spending the first year at least gathering information, checking regulatory guidelines, and finding an engineer who will tick my boxes as we go. So, finally living the dream......thanks guys.
Welcome aboard from south of the border, if there is anything we can do to help out just say so. You will find plenty of friends on here. Ray
Welcome to the HAMB. You will find this place is like a museum. Most folks here don't care what you build, as long as you built it. Good luck with your adventure. Sit down, be prepared to read, use the search function before asking questions. You'll like it here.
How ya gowin' from Canada eh! My Dad was born in Aus and I,ve got some family in Bunbury. Anyways Welcome.
thanks fellas for the welcome, Im sure to be asking some questions about "how to do it", and "where do you find"?..
WOW , at firrst glance I thought your post said Gay from Australia!! Not that there is anything wrong with that.Just kidding, welcome to HAMB, lots of good guys here. I really like to read the stories of the good ol'days.
Hey buddy, nice to have you onboard. There are no dumb questions, I think all of us learn a little more each day living the life. There are only dumb answers. The 1/4 scale rail is nasty lookin'. Best on luck with the dream! A BONE
Thanks for that. I have a 44cc chainsaw motor in it, managed to screw 17,500RPM out of it. Thought that was ok, since they're supposed to only get to 8-9000. I finally sais "yes" to 2 x '37 Dodge 4 door sedans....hope to make 1 from 2, then part out what's left. Thanks again all for the welcome.
