I want the type of fuel gauge that is br*** fittings with a gl*** tube that mounts to the side of a tank to see the fuel level, but I don't even know what to call it. Can you buy these ready made? I am using a Model T tank turned on its side and looking to mount this type gauge on one end.
Try Grainger supply They have an online catalog. Its a sight guage. Try: http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/ecatalog/N-/No-0/Ntt-sight+guage Nick
try this link... http://www.donaldson.com/en/ih/accessories/index.html we call them sight gauges or tank gauges.
McMaster Carr has them too. search for sight gauge on their site there are several to choose from. They have a GREAT website search function good company too. www.mcmaster.com
As others have stated, look for a sight gauge with 90 degree fittings and fit it up yourself. We use them in the oil/gas industry for all sorts of fluids and seldom have a problem. .
You are asking for a lot of fittings that can leak. Just my opinion. These were used on water tanks. Coffee pots ( In the Dinner we hung out in ).
The McMaster-Carr website is for me now what the Sears & Roebuck Christmas toy catalog was back in the 1950s. The search term you should use is "liquid-level sights". I just checked it out because I'm going to outfit my hot rod with a spun aluminum fuel tank with no gauge or sender unit.
How about something like this? My sawmill gas tank has one similar, but question is does someone make one the right leingth
