The channeled 33 5 window is going to a new home in North Carolina, (not Tennessee as originally posted, the driver, Hot Rod Tim is from Tenn), I am going to miss this old coupe. Tim the driver should be showing up some time this evening so I guess I am just mourning....Now that I have a space opened up, the latest 'survivor' should be showing up in another week, this time it is a custom.

Your car has been an inspiration for my current build of a channeled 33 Ford five window coupe. Hopefully its going to a good home.

I would have had a real tough time parting with that one. As long as the replacement is on the way never look back and keep us up to date on the new adventure.

Thank you guys, I appreciate the kind words. I did not think I would ever sell that one, but the real catalyst for selling the coupe is because of the car I just found (and purchased). Since I just picked up the chopped 3 window a few months ago, I promised my wife, I would sell a car before buying another, since these special old cars do not come up every day, you have to take action quick.
Boones, this custom has some a great story behind it. There have been some write up on this car about 20 years ago too. It was chopped with raked A pillars and channeled 5" with a sectioned and peaked hood and relocated fenders all done between 1948-1950 in Los Angeles. It was also in a couple of 50's movies, not any type of major role, but I bet a lot of you have seen this car. I will post some pics when this one makes it to it's new home.

I remember following that 33 through the streets of dallas shortly after you moved, it still had the muffler shop bends for exhaust.
Cheater slicks and and poorly aligned sprinkler and you walked it sideways through the intersection in front of me. I think you thought it was a water trap when you mashed the gas. :)

I still have the magazine for you with the flathead 32, I need to send it down to Byron.

Hi Tyler! Man that was a while back if it still had the mock up exhaust.
Oh, my foot slipped when you were following me.

Thanks DW! I think we share the same sense of style. I have been looking for a custom for a while, but just waiting for the right one. I think I have finally waited long enough and my time has finally come, it really compliments my blue 32 coupe in a lot of ways. Now I am patiently waiting for the truck.....

  20. time and place, whilst it is 'p***ed' to a new caretaker, similarly you have the opportunity to apply your p***ion and talent to another old soul.....so, embrace the good, and move onto a new chapter.....and quite teasing us, what is it?:D

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:)

Piero, Thanks man. This old coupe was really an old hot I rescued and made it my own. I changed it quite a bit from when I first found it. I have been gravitating more towards preservation projects these days, so that is why it was not real difficult for me to sell the coupe when I had something with some provenance in the wings. I can always build another car.

Drew, you ****ered me in with your articulate post, plus I don't like getting teased either!
So I am caving in! Here are a couple of photos from 1950 when the car was first completed, it was later changed to a Coral color, I understand a light salmon color when it was in the movie 'Rebel Without a Cause' (the 1954 photo attached). I will save the long story for another post, but it was street rodded a little and it has a little of that look right now still, but the body & paint is great but it needs a color change to bring it back to it's origins, which I absolutely intend to do. That is why last week I was looking for a pair of 49 Plymouth bumpers. Thanks for all that responded! I will be searching for a few other little things but the car is complete and running and driving condition with a 1962 Vette motor in it right now. So here it is, the "Larry Nichlin Custom"!

WOW! That is a major upgrade in cars in my opinion. Is this the same car that was yellow and in the movie "Hollywood High"? Best wishes with the restoration, and Merry Christmas!

Thank you! I am really excited about this one. I am not familiar with Hollywood High, but it was also seen in Hot Rod Girl. Are you referring to Hollywood Knights by chance?
If so, that is a different car.

I saw you had it for sale, I'm sure it's going to a good home. Whenever you sell a car I know there's got to be a good reason and sure enough there was!

Can't wait to see the new coupe around town.

It's got to be difficult parting with your '33 (I remember when you first signed-up with that beast), but I've got to echo everyone else when I say congrats! What better way to keep the history of rodding and customizing alive than through a such a sweet preservation project!

Mine broke down the other day and I had to have her towed home, I was so mad at her, but if I sold her I'd miss her too. Your 33 is one of the coolest ever, I hope the new owner loves her as much as you did.
    All the best.

At least I got the Hollywood part right, "Hollywood Knights" is the movie I remember with the yellow Coupe. One of my favorite 39-40's. :)
