I found this pair of wheels in Montana on a recent hunt for old tin. They are 15 inch and have chrome spokes in the center. They are 5 x 5 1/2 early Ford pattern.

I have never seen them before so are they rare or valuable?

    Maybe a Ford Dealer accessory?

    Can anybody identify?

    Thanks for your help!

General Jumbo wheels. In good condition are worth some good money to some people.

General Jumbo Wheels?? Are you serious? What a funny name.

Any background on the wheels? Were they sold through Ford Dealers?

General Tire Company made the wheels to fit the new baloon tires with much smaller rim diameter for softer ride and better handling. Several other tire companies did the same Goodyear or Goodrich? called theirs the the "Air Wheel". Can't recall the others.

They are wheels that were offered by General Tire Co. and they were called Jumbo tires as they were a balloon tire. The wheels were actually made by Cleveland Welding Co. but they are normally referred to as General Jumbo wheels. They were offered in 14-15 and 16 inch rims.

They were a Tire, Wheel and Hub cap combination when sold.

A gentleman contacted me last night through my web site and he is looking for a couple 15" wheels with the ford bolt pattern. Contact me if you want to sell them. Thanks, Doug

They look good painted. IMHO You'll probably never see any reversed like this one. They were on a 34 P/U that the owners father built many years ago when they were just used rims.
