Has anyone seen a pic of one of these chopped???? I don't know if I like the "humps" where the running boards should be...
I've been driving a 48 2 dr. for over a decade. Olds Cutlass subframe & 12 bolt. Several years w/ Olds 455 now a 331 Hemi. Tex Smith's Mopar hot rod book has some ideas. one for dropping in a 318 w/o subframe.
My son has a 2 door coupe over in the classifieds that has disc brakes, a Mopar 360, with a performance cam, headers, auto and posi rear end. Runs and drives, ready for the body work and interior to be finished. $7,000 OBO. Under "FS 47 Plymouthg coupe, New pictures" about 2 pages down. Gene
The gap "where the running board is supposed to be" was filled by the chrome trim. The middle brake light was THE brake light! Where you have to do some rewiring to get brake lights in the "normal places" you can easily make what looks like a factory 3 brake light system. Looking down from above the car is barrel shaped might be a pain to chop, rear visibility isn't great now!
George...Do you really CARE if a chopped car has poor rear visibility? My '56 F-100 has a 3" high rear window and I LIKE it!
50, I can't believe you haven't sold that car yet. That freaken thing is the perfect start for someone!-MIKE
Try carnut.com. I chopped my '48 business coupe. The rear window is much smaller on the business coupe compared to all the other '46 to '48 models. Have you been to p15-d24.com?
or u can use a diff back window or not chop that one so much but that might be to easy... i used to have a 46 coupe there fun cars
Here is a bad pic of a 47 clubcoupe, I built for a guy in the mid 80's.......3" chop.......it was in Rod Action mag at the time
