What exactly are you looking for? Pictures? How-to? Give us a little more information. From what I've read and been told you'll have to pie-cut the A rails to fit the shape of that body... But I don't have an A frame or a 27 roadster so I'm not much help.
If you channel a 27 roadster you might as well plan on bolting a board on top of the doors for a seat You will be sitting so high up in the already small bucket you will need a stock height windshield to avoid rocks and bugs.
those 23-27 buckets have very little 'freeboard' on the sides. You channel that body any at all, and you'll look like Lurch rolling down the road...no place to lean your elbow, you'll have to install a nearly vertical steering column tall enough to keep the wheel of of your knees. You can do a channel on the sides only and fabricate a way to keep the stock floorboards as a "well" for you to sit it - but the rails (or their covers) will show as soon as you open the door and you'll have to step over them during ingress and egress. dj "..gotta two-pack habit and a motel tan..."
Channeled T's don't handle big waves is right because of the lack of Free-board...! However you could build a frame like the one "Jimmy White" built for his 26 RPU with a heavy rear Z and smaller dimensioned tubes... I'll see what I can find on that car for you.
Agree, while I don't like to question other people's tastes, to me, channeled 26-27 T roadsters look way too long, better sitting on top of 32 rails...
Never channeled a 26/27 over a A frame, but built my own frame out 1.5 x 3 inch rectangular tubing. Channeled the body 3 inches over the frame. I am almost 6 ft tall and 230 lbs. My steering is not straight up and a do not sit on the top of body. Car is in my avatar. Good luck
Thanks to all but when I sit in the body on the Model A frame I get a nose bleed. The ch***is has a 3" drop in the rear and a 3 1/2" dropped Axel with a reversed main leaf and I plan on setting the seat on the floor as per my corvette. I do not want to have a ch***is that is dropped in the middle with a suicide front end. As far as freeboard I am 5' 4" short and fit OK. The original seat sat up more than 12" and was way to high hence the tall wind shield. What I was wondering is how to cut the sub frame and have it fit over the ch***is and to weld the braces back to regain the rigidity. Thanks again to all for your information and ideas. Jim.T. (The only stupid question is the one that wasn't asked)
with the stock floorpan positions in a T you can actually sit them down on a framerail 1 1/2 inches... you have to cut a couple of small notches in the front firewall for the framerails to p*** though, and move the body mounts accordingly.. this was a stock body with stock pans in it, well the wood floors, the framing was the stock hat channel.. i removed the hat channel crossbrace and put in 1 inch tubing at the same height.. the mounts are just going to be some simple frame tabs with nylon bushings.. i plan on using some small buckets seats like in the copper colored T above, my seats will be a suspension seat to take the edge off... i'm not using an A ch***is though, my frame measures 26" over the rails, not sure what width an A ch***is is, its probably wider, and the body sitting on the rails .. i lot of people will also lenghten the bucket a couple inches behind the door, to get their knees out of their chest, done right it looks near factory..
Both the T and the A are flat as a pancake on the top side. So height or lack of it would depend on suspension mods and or cutting and pasting the rails. The T however has it's front crossmember lower than the rest of the frame, which would probably mean doing something differnet if you wish to drive without oxygen masks. Have Fun!
That's what I like about Hot Rods... get a problem think it out and make it work and Jimmy Whites RPU isn't channeled and has the perfect stance and height IMHO...!
Thank you Wingnuts for the reply, I plan on working with the ch***is height ie. wheels, tires, Zing the rear more and dropping or flatting the front cross member. I haven't seen Jimmy White's RPU. I do appreciate all the input but I am an old schooler. I will try to take some pictures and post them. This message board is great, especially for a old timer that ( Don't get around much any more ).
I have not seen Jimmie White's car before but it looks great! Would sure like to see some body off pictures of the frame. Ted

I channed mine only 1 inch just so the rear wheel fitted the body molding Luckily I am short and just have enough to lean my elbow on.
Hey JimSibley and ******jack both cars look GREAT. I am going all the way 4". I have to take some pictures. The sub frame is cut in the cowl area and over the rear axle, I have to weld the pieces back in to straighten the sub frame. I will be welding body brackets to the frame. I think the pictures will explain.
Hey Jim they do look similar and right now mine is in the paint shop and the color? British Racing green
Not a '27, but we channeled this one 3". It's not the most comfortable car in the world, but at least you'll get to your destination quickly! Matt is over 6ft tall...
No worries it was taken about this time last year before the car was drivable and it was br*** monkeys that day you can tell by the paraffin heater, the camera is sitting on the roof of my wife's Studebaker because both cars were in the garage for winter.
