60'-70's Vintage Oval Track Modifieds

Love the beer keg/gas tank!!!

 

Here's something for the midwest (Minnesota/Iowa) guys. Jack McCorkell and the first version of the Thurmer Brothers (Jackson, MN) #102 modified from the early '60's. I currently own their second generation car (which was smaller and lighter). You can see the engine in my avatar.

 

Yeah, I was thinking when I saw it there, Someone lost their deposit on that beer keg.

I was watching American Pickers last night on TV. The guys were going through a warehouse/storage building in New York City. They ran across an old racing poster from the Weissgl*** Speedway. A couple of the cars were a #100 (plus sign) and a Z. Did anyone else see this or know of this track?

 

Weissgl*** was out on Staten Island. A 1/5 almost perfect circle. Neat little place, went there a few times in the mid sixties, like stepping back in time.

lol - yep, called him that the first time I saw him back in the mid 1980s.

And he's a nice guy, we were up there visiting my mom, and I took my boy by to see the old cars, George took the time to show him around, and even gave him a Weissgl*** Speedway t-shirt...

That sign that was on American Pickers I made a couple of years ago to display with my vintage stock cars at shows. I sold it to that guy along with two bumper cars. I used to go to Weissgl*** every Saturday night, 1969 or so,
