Starting a thread or post on my 1945 Invader race car hauler ramp truck project. Hope you enjoy. I shoveled (5) 5gal. buckets of rust out of the bed.

  5. It'll look great by retaining the lines by keeping the sides!

Awesome! I can't wait to watch the build. As a soon to be retired (2012) firefighter-I love those old pumpers.

My grandfather owned many vintage firetrucks when we were growing up , so I can dig it . Give it new life , rather than rusting away to nothing . Grandpop's were all as original , not racecar haulers though . Ya don't want to cut up something like a fully operational/restored '26 Ahrens Fox N-S-4 , 1000 GPM pumper ! That one was his pride & joy ...

The hauler looks great so far , BTW

Yes I found this picture awile back and sure liked it. I wanted to retain the original look of the Invader. I've done all the work myself except the long cuts and the fender well bends.

It did have a v-12 but is gone. This truck was on ebay July 4th weekend. Did not sell. Was relisted and I chickened out again. The buyer only wanted the motor, trans, rad. and gauges. The seller called me and asked if I still wanted it. I talked to him several times about it, so it happened. Had it transported from Willimton Ill. to Dallas Tx. I've only had it for about 2 months. I'm going to put a 76 cadillac 500 with 2 a/c unit's (a Texas thing) and hydroboost brake system. Leaving the paint alone. Thought it would be a 2-3 year project. But my friend is letting me use his shop so now probally going to take about 1 year I hope. I'm going to owe him alot. JD

that is bad ass! I been wanting to build something along these lines for a few years. I guess I better build a car to tow first.

I have not had much time but have finished boxing the front of the bed and have a diamond plate package tray under the rear windows. Like a coupe would have, about 14 inch's deep. The 2 large 150 speedo, 8k tach is for the Invader Project. Just some pics of part of my Stewart Warner collection, gauges and speedo's tach's etc. I need a bigger coffee bar. I collect a little postwar, mostly prewar Auburn type stuff.
