I got mine at the junk yard, found the car and got the fenders off it. They have been sitting in the shed now for a few years waiting on the right project to come along.

same here - pulled off of a rusty car going to the crusher..the real traditional way to do it. though I guess you could put some pieces of metal and have a day of tack welding to get it right, but is easier to it that way.

    hey,

First order of business is to hit up the search funtion of the HAMB for any posts on "Hammerforming "...............

Cut two pieces of 3/4'' plywood to the shape of your Buick headlamp door, next cut a piece of 18-19 gage crs. about an inch larger than the plywood. Clamp the crs. between the plywood pieces, and form the metal down over the lower piece of plywood with a wooden mallet. Work the metal all around the hammerform alittle at a time until you've got a clean shape all around. Remove the crs. from the plywood hammerform. Now you've got a flange to bolt the Buick headlamp door to, and can weld any amount of metal to it to shape it to any fender you want.
    Quick & easy!

If ya have any problems just ask.

    Hey,

You have '53-'54 Buick headlamp doors now, yes? If so, trace the outline of the door where it mounts to the stock Buick fender, and transfer that outline onto the plywood. This gives you the exact shape that will match the Buick part once bolted up.
