Here's my 41 Plymouth coupe. Chopped 3.5 inches and the rear gl*** leaned forward. The car will be dropped another 2 inches all the way around. Work in progress......

It is truly a bad*** car. I got a chance to sit in it at HRAR '08 and it is 'tailor made' for sure! I'm just under 6'4" and I was at the extent of my leg and arm reach! Too cool.

  17. Hey JJ,

Sorry for the poor quailty scans - they're kinda old...

Shoebox I did for my buddy last summer. 4in in front and vertical 4in in the rear. It is the car Finnrodder is rebuilding.

Here is a sneak peek at what I am working on as we speak. It is my Hudson. I took 1 1/2 out of the A pillar and not sure how much out of the C pillar. I wanted to keep it mild to keep the proportions right on. I still have to finish up the C pillars and do the trim and garnish moldings.

Your chop looks great so far! It looks similar to the way I chopped my Brougham. It looks like you are going to retain the factory crease around the base of the roof? I shortened up the roof a bit on my brougham, and it looks like you are stretching the coupe roof on yours a bit.

    Nice work man.

What is your plan for the door tops? I had to re-shape my door tops a bit to make sure the break at the vent window lined up.

  24. wow, great thread.
theres awesome examples of just right and wayyy to much.
i have to get my truck photoshopped as im not sure how much to take out for the perfect chop. because its a Knock down, colonial cab (fendered ch***is, running gear and cowl that was sent out to the "colonies", where local coach builders built the cabs) it looks good as it is, so may only need 1 or 2 inches. all opinions on amount welcome.

I would say at least 3". There is so much crown to that roof that anything less than a few inches would be barely discernable. When you photoshop it take a side view pic with a ruler placed vertically against the b-pillar to make it easier to tell how much you chop it.

Thanks. I looked at yours and Studhud's chop alot before I made any decisions about mine. I did not lengthen mine, I just never took the back window out. The coupe roof is short enough, I did not want it any shorter. I also did not want the quarter windows getting too small. I just leaned everything forward from the stock location. The doors seem to line up fine so far with a straight edge. Of course I will find out when I start to cut down the vent windows. I will do a full post when I get the back of the roof done.
