I'm glad that someone finally put out a fairly true history of the hot rod. SoCal was definitely the place, but there was other places that were following their lead. Maybe the future episode's will show some of that. Foose needs some training.

I enjoyed both 1/2 hour episodes. It is important to have the first generation hot rodders tell their story. I caught a couple geezer chats at the Hot Rod Reunion back in the mid 90's. It was great to hear Wally Parks, Alex, etc. reminisce about the early days.

I would have missed it if it weren't for this thread, THANK YOU! I watch HDTV all the time, but never saw one promo commercial. They've played Cafe Racer commercial a 1000 times.

Is Chip Italian? What's with all the hand talking?

I would have paid extra to watch this show!

You could tell Chip sounded like he was reading a script from boards.

I watched it, good show! Was neat to see all that old footage, and the old guys talk about their street racing days! Its funny, how they talk about how even though they were racing in the middle of nowhere, the papers were telling the general public how horrible they were and how they endangering everyone. Some things never change....

Its a cool channel, lots of car stuff. I'm excited to see more of "the long way around" were the two guys are going from london to new york on motorcycles, by heading east!

  13. Watched the first two episodes and it's a good show, I love all the old footage from the dry lakes that they had. I can't wait to see the episode about the early days of drag racing.

Another decent show. After seeing all three shown so far, I would be happy to recommend it. A lot of great pictures and films.......sort of HAMB lite but still good

Yeah you would think he has been on TV enough that he would be more natural...but it could be some smooth jerk off that didn't know squat about cars. I'll take Foose over the cat that does Rides any day.

We just got Dish's "HD for life" (back in OCT) and HD Theater was on the list.
Saw the first two episodes and was looking forward to more!
Come first of November it was gone! Made me...very angry!:mad:
I guess it was a preview or something.:mad::mad:
What Dish package do you have?

The show format and production is great, though it would be nice if Foose's delivery were more natural. California centric but understandably so, and it's important the players are being interviewed and recorded for posterity, something that hasn't been done before. But some things left out of the storyline are almost unforgiveable: during the LSR story about Mickey Thompson's officially unrecognized 1960 run, they jumped to Breedlove and SOA. No mention of the Summers Brothers at all? They held the wheel-driven NA AI-II-11 cl*** record for 44 years!

No forum to ask about episodes or content on the Discovery site. Still, finally having some quality gearhead programming avialable is mighty nice.

My biggest ***** is that the network doesn't promote the show enough. I can never find out when it's going to be on. Iv'e only seen episodes 1 & 2.

its about time theres a new hotrod show on the tube, some of these re-runs have been on for years!

  29. Been DVR'ing it, very enjoyable. Chip is a little too obvious that he's reading from a prompter but that's okay.
