    This is a 32 Ford my dad bought in Mt. Vernon, Illinois in January of 1952. He has always called it his "32 Roadster", but after blowing up the pictures we discovered it was actually a chopped and channeled 32 Ford Cabriolet. The door and trunk handles were shaved, the cowl vent and grille shell were leaded in and it had custom hand made aluminum rear fenders and hood. It also had a rear roll pan.

    We would like to see if the car still exists or if anyone out there remembers it. Dad bought the car in Mt. Vernon in Jan '52 from a guy named Ernest Dale Lowery who owned or ran King City Auto Supply. At that time he told my dad it was built in California by a guy named Barris.

    Dad drove the car all over central Ill (Springfield, Peoria, Decatur, etc.) about 6 months or so until he wrecked it taking the curves in DuQuoin a little to fast. He sold the car to a bodyman in DuQuoin named Fred Kerber. Fred fixed the car, painted it red with black fenders and sold it.

    The last time dad saw the car was a few years later in Colp, Illinois (close to Carbondale). It was at a popular local hangout called Junior Hatchet's BBQ. At that time the body was black and possibly without the fenders. Dad later heard the car was raffled off at a local race track.

    If anyone knows where the car is or what happened to it, we would love to talk to you. IF YOU KNOW WHERE THE CAR IS, PLEASE PM OR CALL ME AT 419-234-2628. PLEASE DON'T POST THAT INFORMATION ON THIS THREAD!!! Thanks, Tom

    No idea, sorry.

    I usually don't care for channeled 32's, but that car was built by a true master :) It flows really nice. Great old car.

    Could this be it now.

    I am listing this for a friend that isn't to computer savvy
    This is an ALL STEEL 32 Ford roadster
    Everything on this car is completely new front to rear
    and has been driven less then 200 miles
    the build was done about 3 years ago and it's still not completely finished, It needs a few little bity things like the interior finished being carpeted and just a couple minor things.
    the paint is shiny ,but not perfect
    the top is old and should clean up pretty nice with a scrub brush.
    the car runs and drives fine and the brakes,blinkers and everything work as they should.
    * 342 sbf stroker motor,w/gt40 aluminum heads,B303 cam
    * fresh C-4 automatic
    * 8" rear end with 3.55 gear and trac-loc differential
    * boxed frame
    and a whole bunch of other stuff,you should be able to see most everything from the pics
    if you're interested and have questions or would like to make an offer or come and see it,
    please email me or call the owner Dave at 1-608-290-7463 or 1-815-389-1456
    Very motivated seller, also will sell the car as a rolling ch***is for $20,000

    Thanks for the post Matt. I don't think this is my dads car though. This car has a stock windshield frame. Dads car had a custom built roadster style windshield that was laid back at a slight angle. The black car looks like a good deal for a Cabriolet, but it looks like the windows and garnish mouldings are MIA. Thanks, Tom

    It looks like this car was built by Bob Drew from Santa Monica, Ca in 1946-47 and raced at El Mirage in 47-48. Mr Drew was a member of the Santa Monica Low Flyers Car Club. Now the only mystery is did it survive???

    It looks too nice for someone to s**** it back in the day but strange things happened sometimes. Maybe it will "resurface."

    dads32 - These photos were all taken at the same time. It was not unusual for California hot rodders to drive out to the Indianapolis 500. It looks like this may be where they were taken.

    I'm still looking for any info on this car, any pictures, old memories, current owner, etc. I am also looking for a 32 Cabriolet. A modified car is ok.

    I think you can change your thread ***le. I would put custom 32 Ford cabriolet to attract any of the guys who own or like these cars. I have looked at 32 cabriolet threads and ads for about 10 years on the net, and there are a lot of them still out there, and even quite a few project cars that members here have stored for decades, unfinished.

    A person who likes 32 cabriolets might recall seeing that body in the past, with the unusual windshield.

    we live in a new era where some long term owners do decide to let a dormant car go due to retirement downsizing/moving, and in the past, that was uncommon.
