Hey Fellows, I'm researching for my next project and want to build the above.Whats the price range on these and a ch***ic now days? I want to do a"Plain Jane" with wide whites and steel wheels. No power and like my High school days rides. Thanks so much for your time and you Guys are greatest.Tom (Tired Old Man)
Tom, you're a lucky man! This has been on for about 5 mins. and nobody has yet flamed you for even thinking about a gl*** body! But I understand as I'm 73, and also don't have the drive and energy it will take to revive a Henry body at my age! I started out thinking gl*** body back about 10-11 years ago, found a decent '33 OEM frame and bought it, with plans to buy a gl*** 3wd body like the first car I ever owned. Looked @ lot's of cars, and even went to S.C. to Gibbons and looked @ the cars under construction as well as those on display. Even sat in their Viper model to see if, @6'3"&240#, I could fit in it! Decided to go with Gibbons after I finished the frame. But Gibbons ***ets all went up the nose of the late founder's nose and they went bankrupt! So a guy called "Shooter" in SW VA wound up with his molds in the auction, ay least most of them. IIRC, he also owns the Gibbons web site. From online there, I got his phone number and talked with him several times and he later called me to tell me when/where I could see his work without driving to VA! I met him about 60 miles from home as he was going from Conyers, GA to meet aguy from Birmingham on the West side of ATL to deliver to him a tudor '33/34 body. There in a Wal Mart parking lot, I got a good look @ Shooter's work and also the things he had changed to make the body even better. I even sat in the car to verify I would fit! Helped to load the body out of Shooter's truck into that of the guy fron B'hm and left knowing I would get a well made and finished body if I went with Shooter. Before I could get to work on the frame and finish it, I ran up on a deal on a rolling ch***is Brookville '31 roadster and decided to get that and sell the '33 frame. If I get off my *** and stay off this PC, I should be finished by the time roadster weather returns. But for fibergl*** bodies, etc. Shooter is great and close (relatively) to you.\ Dave
Fat Cat rods and Custom in Dalton Ga. is were I got my 32 roadster body and ch***is from. He also makes 34's as well. He has really good quality bodies and great prices . They have a website fatcatrodandcustom.com
Thanks Guys. Just wanted a price range before I start calling. Hey" Dirty Old Man" I think the young Guys leave us old folks alone (I'm 66) because they know we don't care if we get "Flamed" or not !!!! LOL.There is a Great bunch of Guys and Gals here and I can take whatever is dished out. Should have stated I wanted a 5 window. Tom (Tired Old man)
Davikki LTD out of Illinois makes 33-34 5 window bodies with 1.5" chop and you can have the body channeled or stock floor height. Very nice quality bodies. http://www.davviki.com/home.htm
I don't like to talk bad about any manufacturer,... But A friend of mine bought a roller 36' Roadster from "Davikki LTD",... and this thing is a total nightmare,... maybe this is a rare situation,... I really hope it was,.. because this thing is a total turd.
Have not seen one but prices look good and close enough to go look at a car and pick up later http://www.corbinrods.com/1934_california_kid.html
A friend bought a 32' 3/W N&N Fibergl*** body and was really happy with it,... great deal for the price,...they have chopped 34' 3/W's as well,.... http://www.nnfibergl***.com/34s.htm
Go to www.redneckstreetrods.com Don't let the name fool you, super high quality, superb fit and finish. They use Pete and Jakes ch***is and build the body on the ch***is, this ensures propler fit up of doors and such. They are not cheap but you will save at the body shop. It's the only gl*** body I would consider
I have the fibergl*** 56 ford cab from Bebops it was at the time around 5600, I think the 32 roadsters are around 6-7k. You can get pricing off their website. My experience with them was very enjoyable and the product with over 10k miles in the two years since completion has held up great. It does get driven in the rain but does stay out of the weather when not being driven. There are any bebop 32 bodies around here and it is very superior to any that I have seen in the building stage but thats my opinion. They are located in Cleveland, TN (ne of Chattanooga) Good luck and drive em hard. Happy Holidays.
Love my 32 three window. Its a bear fibergl*** unit. Built like a sh!t brickhouse and straight. Here's a link to the site... This is a Gibbons Viper kit. Frame was produced by Pete & Jakes w/ all of their suspension parts then shipped to Gibbons when they were in N.Carolina for the body, power windows, hood, grille etc. This was built by my good friend ,Joe in NY state and he & I put about 12K miles on it. I loved the way the car handled. I don't know if Gibbons (back in Nebraska) are producing these again or not. I owned it for about 5 years, then traded it back to Joe.
These guys make what looks like a killer 5 window, although I've only seen it on the website and not in person. http://www.cl***iccoupesandcarts.com/id2.html
I don't know if they are still made but hands down the best fibergl*** '33/'34 coupe body built is Polyform out of California. I wouldn't build anything else and if you see their products 'm sure you wouldn't either. They might be a little more expensive than the compe***ion but well worth the difference. Frank
Something like this? I think it would look better with hood personally, but to each his own. This is a redneck body. Worth noting is door handles and trunk handle that actually work. Ask a body man who has painted one, that's the way to judge.
I have a 33/34 Wescott body and it is the best one I have seen. They are located in Oregon and Karl is the man to talk to. Nothing wrong with a gl*** car in my opinion.
I have seen thehttp://www.cl***iccoupesandcarts.com/id2.html body up close at a swap meet, it is an excellent body! I thought it was steel when I first walked up to it.
Check us out at www.scottrodscustom.com all our bodies are handlaid not chopped and you can visit us anytime. Scott Leber ScottRods custom
no advice here makes more sense than the suggestion to check with a bodyman that has worked on fibergl*** hot rods. They can tell the good from the bad by how long it takes to prep it and just how badly they warp. Was visiting an old friend up in WA a few years ago - he was working on a f/gl*** 36 roadster - and he was just sick of it after three weeks. six months later we were shooting the breeze at the Monroe swap meet and he advised that before he was done he had put in hundreds of house and about a half ton of filler that he put on, then sanded down, then put more on and sanded down. This guy is no flake - he has worked up and painted some of the finest show cars in the PNW. I don't know what brand it was, but I've not had a great deal of confidence in f/gl*** cars since then. I've had several hipo gl*** boats and a few 'vettes -but that's just not the same - but you at least know that fibergl*** can be done right...if you're willing to pay. dj
