Alright every one I am the proud owner of this cool 53 Chevy 210 Club Coupe. My old man got tired of the car and wanted a new one so he gave it to me. It is a great car and is running a 235 with a 5 speed transmission, and Nova rear end.

I love this car but was wondering what I could do to make it look more like a traditional style hot rod then a street rod. I am not looking to chop it up or change the drive train, just more traditional. So with all of you photoshop wizards out there please if you could take some time and give me some ideas.

    Thanks

paint, bias plys WWW, and better wheels would help make it look nice at least in my eyes.

These kind of questions kill me.......Everybody trying to get somebody elses opinion of what is cool. How about looking in a book or 2 and actually having your own ideas.......

Taller tyres, paint the roof white, and lower the rear.

    yep!

great car. get the stance going the opposite of how it's sitting now-drop the back and maybe raise the front a little. wide whites and steel wheels look great on these cars. also, some lakes would look great too.

I would probably just drop the rear a tad and drive it. What's not traditional about chrome wheels and baby moons? I would probably run 1" whites on it for a 60's look.

If your proud of it, and think its cool. Than why change it?
If it were mine id change the wheels, and call it done.

Looks good how it is now. I would own that car as it sits with out feeling the urge to change a thing. Nice score.

Hey thanks for the reply, I would have never though of that on my own. You mean to tell me that there is such things as magazines, or books, with pictures in them to get ideas off of? Hell is there websites out there with pictures or other cars like it to gage what I am looking for to make this car a little more traditional?

Man, You are a wealth of knowledge. Please O wise one tell us what else kills you and what other opinions you might have. Because us dumb ***es don't know what cool is.

Oh by the way what the does it matter to you if I am asking some one else's opinion or looking at pictures to base changes I want to do to my car anyways. All I am looking for is suggestions Not a ****ing handout!

if it was mine, and I wanted a quick '60s fix, I'd go with these (with the bumps), maybe even with a skinny whitewall, and adjust the ride height. If i had cash I'd roll with some Astro Supremes.

    But it's your car....

You have to ask yourself if you want a hot rod or a custom.... that car could go either way.

easy tiger. don't take things so personal around here, everyone's always going to have an opinion, and you may not always like it or want to hear it.

that said, your car is very nice as it is-they're right about that. if you're wanting opinions on a different style, easiest thing is stance, wheels and tires.

nice car, good luck with it.

Thanks for the other replies fellas. As for traditional I guess the look I am looking for is exactly like one of you posted already. Just changing the wheels to steelies with baby moon hubcaps and wide whites, with the rear end dropped a few inches.

    Thanks again

When I was a kid growing up we had magazines, no internet. My Dad would take me to autorama and turn us loose. Do the thread search here 49-53 chevies, sit back and let your taste become cultified. You are bound to see ones you love, ones you hate. Quick fix would be stock style wheels with some cool flipper caps, trip to the tuck and roll shop ................whacheveryawan mang !

Mr Haney is right, there are a million inspirational pictures available for that type of car, you can literally spend hours searching through them. there are a few picture threads here, and then there is also 50chevy.com which has a ton of good info and really great pics.

I'm simply lower the rear and add some 1950 full wheel covers.

  21. lower the back, stock wheels, get rid of that yellow, and put some whitewalls.

    but its clean,so drive it.

I would drop the *** and change the color, but just droppin the rear might be enough. I hate yellow, but thats just me.

Drive it and worry about making the changes later.

  25. I like it just as is. But probably lower it a bit front and back? Ya do need a shrunken head hanging from the rear view mirror though...

nice looking car. i drove my 53 for years as my daily driver. 235 and a 3 on the tree. it had radial whites on it when i bought it. i drove it like that for a year, then swithed to the bias ply. they drive just fine, and look way better. heres a shot of it before i painted it. i think yours looks great. a tire change, and i would just level out the stance. im not a "tail dragger" kind of guy. i have no problems with the yellow paint either, but thats something you could always mess with later if you didnt like it. a couple other cheapo things i did over the years was 54 chevy tail lights and head lights, some extra teeth in the grill, and i put some bullets over the turn signals.

If it drives real good dont fool with it. It will turn heads as is. If you go changing the color you might be in for a body repair shock (i dont know the car maybe it is super solid).
there was a thread on flat black one 52 maybe (i think) on here on the west coast, started fooling with the body and oh ****! rust bondo etc. the fella had it all repaired and in timely a manner looks great. But maybe leave it and gather parts for a trad A or something. Good Luck.

I think he is just looking to get some ideas, so he's asking for opinions. :) at least he wants to keep it traditional,
