**** EBAY,..i put my monte carlo on there last saturday, with the auction ending today..the bidding got way up there,,more than i expected to get for it,everything was cool,,had even talked to the current high bidder, woke up this morning to check it out and it was gone! checked my email and this was in there from ebay>>>>>>>>>>> We appreciate that you chose eBay to list the following item: 4529500768 Chevrolet : Monte Carlo However, your listing(s) were in violation of eBay's listing policies. We would like to take this opportunity to let you know what part of your listing(s) are not allowed. Your listing contained the following information: not chevelle or el camino chevy We realize you may not be aware of this policy, but using such terms in this way is considered "Search Manipulation," which is not permitted by eBay. Search Manipulation is any practice that results in searches on eBay returning irrelevant listings or that otherwise inhibits a user?s ability to accurately locate specific items. There are several types of Search Manipulation, including: Keyword Spamming - Keyword spamming is the practice of including brand names or other inappropriate ?keywords? in a ***le or description for the purpose of gaining attention or diverting users to a listing. Methods of Key Word Spamming include, but are not limited to: 1. Extra Brand Names in ***le or Item Description 2. Not Brand X, Not Brand Y 3. Improper Trademark Usage 4. Lists of "Key" Words 5. Hidden Text (White on white text, or hidden text in HTML Code) 6. Drop Down Boxes BLAH BLAH BLAH etc... We thank you in advance for your cooperation. Regards, Customer Support (Trust and Safety Department) eBay Inc <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< i think thats ********,,cuz there are listings on there ALL the time with ***les to get more hits,.,.,. i cant believe they waited till the last day,,now the high bidder wont return my emails **** EBAY!
I've seen lots of Ebay ads with print like this, or even lighter... a clear attempt at skirting the new rules. I have an idea... post an ad like this: FOR SALE: MY CRUSTY **** today only... crusty **** auction bidding starts at $1.00
About 99 times out of 100, that only happens because some busybody with nothing better to do turns you in. It can also be a strategy for someone looking to buy your car off eBay - if you get any offers in the next few days, don't deal with them. eBay does have a lot of ******** rules and the enforcement is very selective - sometimes you can get away with it, sometimes you get caught. I once sold some records that were promos and had listings pulled because I included in the listing what the promo stamp says - apparently you can sell all the promotional issue records, CD's etc you want, you just can't state in the description that the item is marked "NOT FOR SALE owned by record company **X lent for promotional use only" .... now that's f---ed up. With your car, there is a way to beat this rule. In the description somewhere: "Ch***is is the same as a Chevelle or El Camino but stretched 4 inches" (or however long the wheelbase difference is) ... you just have to outwit their half-wits, it's not that challenging.
COOL,that makes sense,,i deleted a guys bid who had zero rating with negative feedback! (one good rating and one bad equaled out to zero) i wanted to make sure he was serious about the car and he never replied, the next day i deleted his bid...probably that ****er,, it gets even better though,,my 48 was on there the same time,,another zero feedback bidder,,he ***ured me he intended to buy it if he won the auction,,, well he did,and emailed me directly after the auction was over and asked me about shipping!? "im like i dont know" you check,,then he said he didnt want to send money order for deposit be cause he didint know me,,but preferred to paypal (which i dont accept) i may eat my words one day,,BUT ill never buy or sell another mother****in thing of of ebay...
to sell on e-bay you need to use paypal and provide shipping info. people won't bid if they don't see you'll accept paypal. That's just the way it is. I bit the bullet and did it finally almost all my auctions sell now. Another way to get around the "not" thing is to blend it into another word, for example "Monte Carlo NOTchevelle or el camino chevy" They do serches for the word "not" and delete everyone they find. It won't pick it up if it's part of another word
Man thats total BS! Theres tons of cars that have that on their listings as we speak. Some even say: Not Ford, Chevy, Dodge, Jeep, VW, Yugo.....................Ebay does ****.
Been there and got that same e-mail. Pm me the next time you buy off of ebay and I'll come over and put lots of ketchup on them words you'll be eating. We're all ****ed cause they pretty much have by the balls.
Man, from my perspective, I think eBay is the best thing to come along in a long time, regardless of the quirks and things they do that irritate me. Maybe it's just my experience.
I agree. It's like a huge nationwide junkyard. It's pouring rain right now, but I can go to Ebay and find the carbs I need and stay dry.
I do quite a bit of trading on ebay and I really hate it when I'm looking for, say, Hemi stuff, and I get sent to fifty items for Chevys that say "327 Not Hemi"...takes a TON of time to sift through all the irrellevant stuff. Regarding PayPal, I really HATE to buy OR sell without it. Think of it as "instant money"...When my listing sells, I know within hours (or minutes) that I have a legit buyer when I get my money. When I BUY, I do a transfer as soon as the listings ends and I get my stuff a lot faster. No trips to the bank or post office. No waiting for my check to clear. I have a seperate bank account and a $300 limit credit card devoted exclusively to PayPal. All buys under $300 are debited from the card. Over $300 comes from my checking account. My inbound $$$ goes to my checking. I have even made a buy WITHOUT any $$ in my account...PayPal does an "instant transfer" from the account and I put in the money the next day...works every time! Just my two cents...
When doing your search you can delete things by typing in -(what you do not want to see) example: Hemi, -(chevy) This will show you all listings with the word hemi but will not show any hemi listings that also has the word chevy in it. The down side is that built 392 hemi with the by-it-now that was just listed for $500.00 will not show up because the guy said, "It'll beat any small block chevy in a pure coolness contest." If you already knew this then I'll shut up now.
I have bought a lot off ebay for my car, and just recently tried to sell something not car related. An old cell phone i can't use anymore with my service. The first time it sold it was a non payer...2 ****in' weeks later i get my final value fee credit. It is a 2 week process no matter what, except if the buyer wants you to ship to a country you don't ship too. It is a week from auction close to file a nonpaying bidder, and then another week until you can relist. ********, all of it. And it doesn't matter if you say i expect payment with 3 days of auction close or 24 hours or whatever. I think that if you state 3 days, then the nonpaying bidder can be filed within 3 days...oh...so i relisted and same ****in thing. i only accept PayPal and that's it...for the same reasons as stated above...well this second buyer had a problem with his/her PayPal...well going through the same non paying bidder process, filed after a week and now waiting a week so i can relist this thing.
Damn, that listing got pulled faster than my wee-wee when i'm in Vegas. but i think it could of been a joke instead of a scam.
Oh god, stop, you're killin me....Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahhahhhahahahhah!!!!!!! "yeah, either that vette has no engine or ******, or it's a scam too." Bwahahahahahahahahhahhahahha - no, really, you-you-you're killin me!!!!Bwahahahahahaha.... OOOHHHHH My.....Whew......gotta catch my breath.... Mutt
People can screw you with Paypal. I usually tell people I don't like to use it because the fees are high and eBay won't let me p*** them on - sometimes people offer to cover them for me, sometimes they don't. I mostly only use it for overseas customers - Bidpay is fine for this country. If you use it - CLEAN OUT THE ACCOUNT TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT EVERY TIME MONEY GOES IN - and DO NOT CONFIRM THE ACCOUNT SO THEY CAN WITHDRAW FROM IT. If someone makes a claim against you with Paypal, say they claim you did not ship it - your account is basically shut off until it's resolved. They'll take money right out of your checking to refund someone if you have the account set up that way - which might overdraw your account, then the bank charges you and your checks start bouncing and so on. Having been on both ends of their claims process, the steps they show aren't true - a bidder doesn't get a chance to respond to whatever answer you make to their claim, for example, even though it shows that as a step. As a seller, you only get a set of checkboxes to respond to the claim - there is no "other" option. If people hesitate to use a Money Order, remind them that a postal money order can be tracked and refunded the same as anything else so long as they save the reciepts for it. Overstock.com is trying to start a decent auction site. It doesn't look bad, I even hear them advertise it on the radio, but it's still pretty small. I'm thinking about signing on and running some test auctions there, but I'm kind of waiting for it to grow a little more. Ebay was great about 5 years ago, ever since then they keep changing stuff and it gets worse and worse to deal with.
