This is my first car I am building I was never much into hot rod stuff till the last few years. I build a 67 Chevy swb and I i enjoyed every minute of it. I originally was going to build a truck but i like the old school hot rods alot more. So here are some pics of the begining.

I am planning on building an entire chassis. I am going to twin turbo a packard straight 8. I have most of the parts together and i just started cutting the car.

So far i have taken 3 inches out of the bottom and welded the factory lower bodyline back on. tonight i cut 4 inches out of the top and i am in the process of putting it back on. I bought a 54 packard Clipper and pulled the motor out for a donor.

Body is off getting ready to start cutting. The plan is to cut the bottom off and replace the bottom body line parallel to the window and side body line i think its suttle but a cleaner look

bottom cut off and sectioning the body line to make it longer now that the section of body is gone. had to make it line back up with the line on the fender. I am stitch welding it with mild steel rod and finishing it with silicon bronze.

That's a good looking car to begin with, it will be fun following along. Any other design thoughts or goals for the car?

I like where you're going with this. Will you run fenders? Please post plenty on the Packard build.

Very cool, and very timely. I'm just getting started on the body of my '33 Chevy Master coupe. I'll be posting the build as I get into it.

i would of deffently had the subfloor in, mounted on the frame, and the doors fitting well before i chopped it.

i hope it all works out for you, but i would never be that lucky for it to actually line up.

I hope that you saved the little metal plate on the wood rail by the pass seat as that is your vin number of the car and it should match the title vin number.

The wood was gone when i got the car I have to get an assembly title which kinda sucks because i really wanted to have it titled as a 33 but it is what it is i guess. luckly there are minimal things you have to have to get an assembly title in oregon. I can still register it in oregon as a 33 so i dont have to have blinkers and all that jaz that they didnt have originally.

I am fitting the doors last because i want them to fit perfect so i am gonna fit them to the new opening they were on the car when i took it apart.

so your gonna cut the doors to fit the opening?

i relize they were on the car before, but youve chopped the hell out of it, with out and thing to keep your door openings the same shape, what makes you think they will still fit?

Silcon bronze done right is very strong. I am also tacking every inch or so with mild steel rod. i could tig it back together all nice but i am leaving it all raw and i like the gold look of the bronze.

Everything was pretty calculated so the should only be minor modifacations to the doors besides the same chop as the car.

yea the height will be the same, do you relize how much the body twists with no floor?

i hope it works out for you, it just makes it very hard to get back square if you start cutting with no structure.
