I found these at a yard sale in Maine last month. There were two chome covers in their original Cal Custom package marked 'axle covers'. They sort of resemble spyder caps except the center cap is only slightly rounded and not conical. They have a slightly elongated hole in each tab for the wheel stud so they'll fit a few applications. Maybe a chrome Leggs egg would make them 'faux spyders'. In the pics the covers are just hanging on the lug nuts, so they may look better when installed properly. I have never seen them before but hopefully the pix will bring back a memory for some HAMBER. I know, I know...... the extra holes in the rim gotta' go!
still running them on the 54, as well as the chrome front hub nut covers. They used to be all over like horse $h!t. To make them look better, run lugnuts with the chrome or stainless caps.
I have one unused pair. The package fell apart years ago but the covers are still in factory condition which means the chrome is fair as it never was "show chrome" Anybody interested in buying them let me know. Make me a offer plus shipping.
Now I'm curious. I remember buying a set of spider caps for my Corvair Spyder back in the 60's, but I never noticed these Cal Custom things. I guess they come in different bolt spacings or does the elongated hole compensate for that? Does your package indicate any applications?
Any one know where I can find a pair of the flat chrome caps that go between the wheel and the brake drum?
