I have a car listed on ebay. Guy from Australia wants to call me. Any one sold a car out of country? As long as I get my money be for it leaves my house, I see no problem.
i just sold one to england no problems open a seperate bank account and have the $ wired there takes about 3 days
Are you kidding? Best customers in the world are serious hot rodders from Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Great Britain, etc. I usually help arrange shipment to Houston to a container service for them and they pay the bills directly. No worries mate.
thanks guys. I really do like the diff. account idea. Giving any one the bank info seems wrong. I know it works, I have done it buying and selling. Poverty, who you use for shipping? Just shipped a truck last week and it arrived damaged. Place from Texas.
I have a friend in Australia that buys cars here and takes them back. Rule is Take a check from GOD but all others pay cash. Look on HotRodHotLine.com for Australian show pics, any left hand steering car probably came from here.
I transport a lot of cars, bikes, tractors, jukeboxes, pinball machines and just about anything you can think for export to OZ. PM me and I will give you the name and number of my contact. He has a location in Indy and one in Melborne and this is all he does. Dave
I've sent two this year...a 36 to a HAMBer downunder....no problems!! I have a magazine from down there...you should see the selling prices..OMG...big bucks, so they are doing well buying here...don't drop your prices. Murph
correct, proof has to be made to customs here in aus that any modification to a car has been made pre '89,no proof no entry. i purchased and imported a 31 coupe this year from a fellow hamber in detroit, i made sure i spoke to him on the phone, a couple of emails and a bank transfer and the deal was done.it can be a big risk for both parties but if confidence is built up between buyer/seller then no probs.
I've been involved in that stuff, and there's one thing to remember as the seller: There's a period during the sale where you have BOTH the car and the cash. Honestly, it's the guy in Australia that should be sweating bullets. It takes a lot of balls to send over large amounts of cash to buy a car sight unseen from a guy you hardly know. I go the extra mile to help those guys out. All of the Aussies I have dealt with have been great. Cool guys.
I sold a Comet wagon to a guy in New Zealand. After a couple of Emails I talked to him and his wife on the phone. Once I gt a warm and fuzzy feeling , they wired the money to my account and I delivered the car to the forwarder in Compton. All went well for both of us.
Part of the reason prices are higher here is because of shipping, customs duty etc.etc. has been added to the price. take that stuff out and in some cases the price of the car would be half.
You've seen asking prices. A lot of stuff sits for a very long time before it moves, if it moves. And what burtido said.
