hey guys, I'm putting a 200 out of a '68 falcon into my '60 ranchero, does anyone have any idea which motor mounts I'll need to use? I've called both cl***ic inlines, and falcon parts, neither of which knew the answer. thanks for the help- 'snickets

Just pick up a set of "60" mounts from a parts house. I think the 60 and 68 mounts are the same but do not remember for sure. But everything about about the later 200 motor is a bolt in to the 60. Cheers....Ron

reman is correct; just ask for the mounts for a '60. externally, all the 144-200 blocks are identical. timing covers, road draft tubes, bellhousings, etc are different over the years but interchange easily. you MIGHT have to change oil pans over, make sure you get a new oil pump pickup tube.

i think you'll find the 200 a more lively power plant than a V8 in the '60; less weight over the front wheels (less understeer)... easier than trying to gather all the parts to do a v8 swap correctly.

sign up on TFFN as well; we're very philosophic about keeping Falcons alive.

  5. I hear you about the 200 being an easier swap than the V8, but does that straight six weigh that much (if any) less than say a SB Ford, like a 289? Not being sarcastic--really asking the question.

damn it guys.... I keep forgetting to use the subscription tool. project got put on hold for a few weeks and I completely forgot about this, till just now when it became an issue again. the '68's are a seven main bearing correct? the falconparts and cl***icinline guys had absolutely nothing to offer me help wise. I sent in my registration for TFFN but haven't got anything back from the mod's yet. I'm hoping the 200 will be a bit more lively than the 170 I have in there. have an offy triple single intake, putting in bigger valves with a fully built valve train plus cam(i've done port and polish work for my dad since I was 14... and he's been doing it for 50 years, so I'm interested to see what we can do here), milling the head down to get some more compression out of her, and I have a full 6to1 header with a 3 inch collector.... I don't even know what a realistic power figure would be, but I'd be pretty stoked with anything at or above 200. I have a turbo if I'm disappointed.

oh one more thing, old motor has a generator, new motor came with a brand friggin' new altenator....not really sure what I need to switch around for this.....

thanks for the advice guys, I thought the eye ball test was pretty accurate as far as thinking everything should work but there were so many mounts offered I was slightly confused. glad it's going to be easier than I thought, thanks again guys!
