Well here it is... My bucket of a 54... Hey it's all origional, just drug out of the woods about 5-6 years ago! lol

So I did the thread search on 49-54 chevy suspenion and I think I'm more confused now than when I started...lol.. However, I think I've narrowed my decision for a front end down to 2 choices. 1 being the slam kit from FatMan Fab and the other being the TCI kit. I was thinking about a tri-4link with my 9" rear swap but I don't really like how the top bar has to be mounted inside the car under the rear seat... I wont use any kind of factory arms for this project due to running a higher hp engine so I'm thinkng a universal tri-4link or a standard 4link kit. Any suggestions on that?

I have a 454 to go in it but I'm not sure about clearence issues. I did the thread search and it seems everyone is going the 350/350 rout. Has anyone out there done a big block set up w/ a MII kit? I have to put a new floor in it so I'm not really worried about making that all work with a 5 speed. Still trying to decide on weather or not to bag it or go with coilovers...

Any info would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

looks pretty solid!. i would go with a triangulated 4 link. check out suicidedoors.com for that. u can probably take a few measurements to see if the 454 would fit which im sure it would.

The 454 will fit. There's a red or magenta-colored '54 out there running a 454, 6" chop, and Packard tailights. I don't know the particulars on what he did to get the 454 to fit. I think he used a Monte Carlo clip instead of a MII. When I come across the article I'll send it to you.

Ch***is Engineering makes an MII kit and a BBC Motor Mount kit. See the R&C article for installing the MII suspension http://www.rodandcustommagazine.com/howto/1603/index.html

Car looks real solid, I've had 2 cars with the MII and liked both, if you go with a GM clip just make sure it is square in the frame. I like the tri-4 link, but don't know about your floor pan clearance. Good luck and keep us posted.

Thannks for that link! The BBC mounts in that kit are a plus but I don't like that you have to use a-arms from Heidts and brakes from TCI. It seems like there would be more shipping cost. I'll have to look and see if they have a complete kit now.
