    That garage looks like a barn.
    I'd be alot happier with that '41 over a '47 anyday.
    So this make-over the owner wants, I assume that it's to remain all stock correct?

    billet ? i dont think so ,neons ? mabey on your car !its not my ride , but the owner said somthing about bagging the car , and a ford drivetrain, i trying to talk him out of the flat black look . so he might go for the dark marroon candy over metalflake, and painted steelies, not red, with wide whites.by the way, everybodies car on this forum has billet on thier car , do you know where to find it ????? its his car, but i doubt it very much if he wants to go the ratshit rod, or street neon billet style !

    Hey, FF;

    Before owner "desecrates" ... :D... the stude, have him go thru the TurboStude site. He may change his mind. Not entirely "trad", but can be as low-buck, or hi-buck, plain or fancy, as he wants. I could see a TurboStude mill, w/a S-10 type 5sp behind it. & he'll get a lot more attention - whether he wants it or not - w/the hotrodded Stude Champ mill, than the Ford.

    In any case, I'm glad to see another Stude is going to hit the road soon. Hurrah!!! :D

    FWIW.

  25. of course you and the owner can do what ever you two want, but this car is pretty cool, minamal amount of work and cost... and his being a two door even better, not all "ratty gassery" but the real deal.... just my nickles worth of free advice...

    Nice car with lots of possibilities. Expect Ford/Mopar wheels will fit. It may have a very cool "planar" transverse leaf independent front suspension. I have designed a front disk conversion for this car which Jim Turner Brakes can probably sell you. Add dual master cylinder, good tires and drive it that way for a while before doing anything else. Contact Cathcart about speed parts for the 6. Don't discount that engine! I have pulled 240hp and 290 ft-lbs torque out of these.....3 land speed records up to 137mph. That engine was used with minimal changes up to 64' and the later ones will
    have 3" mains. All had forged cranks. Good luck.

    Hey, FF;

    Lots more parts sources in the SDC Turning Wheels pub. If you want/need, I can photocopy a couple of pages 'n' send 'em to you/him. I do know most of the Stude vendors, & esp the hi-po vendors, personally, & can state that they are honest folks. & it's a rather small group - everybody knows everybody, w/most bending over backwards to help out, if needed. :D . I'll be happy to vouch for some particular one, if needed.

    Also, for a different approach, look up Dick Datson. IIRC, his website is: gatorsuperchargers.net. I *think* he is still selling some of his books on ebay. & *may* have a few of the out-of-print ones around yet. A very different way of looking at/approaching things, but I like it, & it does work. Again, you can apply any level of cost/finish to it you want... :) . The books are low cost, & worth every penny - & then some.

    PM me if you want, & I'll drop you my ph# - if needed...

    BTW: There's a very good Stude swap meet near the beginning of May each year in South Bend IN. Well worth going to...

    Marcus...
