Being a FNG not sure if this kind of question is allowed but here goes:
What is an approx value of a 1952 Buick Super 4 door sedan with Straight 8 that runs, is registerable but in need of some bodywork?
I'm not trying to sell one, I'm looking to buy one I know of stashed in a barn but the farmer ain't too keen.
I reckon I'll have to dangle a reasonably sized carrot but don't want to go too big!
I'm in Australia but I'll be happy with answers that relate to the USA because that's what most people will know...

"Some bodywork" could mean anything between $10 and $10,000 or more.
    Specifics?

You are the one who has seen the car so pay what you feel you would be happy paying to get the car. If you get the car and YOU feel like it was a fair deal, then it is a good deal.

Well I haven't seen it for a while so memory's a little hazy..
From what I recall it's a "15 foot car" ie it looks good from 15 feet.
Which I would be happy with...
I think there was some lower body stuff like sill & rear quarter but I'm stretching the memory now

    To me,a Super is worth more than a Special.But it's a 4 dr,in need of work....Straight shift,or Dynaflow?
I'm thinking it might be a good old car,but unless it's damn nice, never going to be worth a lot..
Like wiser men have told me in the past,is this really the car you want to invest your blood, sweat, and tears in?
Having said all that,Buicks are cool,though..

I usually say 4 doors are parts cars except this is OZtralia, where they didn't make 2 dr cars after WW2 so, that doesn't coun't as much in the desirability there.
If it's "registerable" is it drivable?
Have him get it registered and driving then deal, with a known value unless you want to buy it cheap on the risk it's got drive train problems.
I usually go with $1000 (on up) gets you a DRIVABLE "nice old car" regardless of year or make, '52 Buick or '82 Toyota.
Not running is only what the parts you want off it will sell for sure for at a swap meet.
Last one I bought was for $400, a '55 Chevy pickup.
    Engine runs, just doesn't stop...

    Hooray! A figure at last.
That gives me something to work with.
The guy said he reckons it's worth AUS$12K so taking into account the increased rarity over here might have to prop for that much
