I did a search and couldn't find it. Does this mean i'm kicking it off this weeK :O) Well i worked om my 40 sedan delivey and my kustom 62 bird this week keith ross
I finished my '51 Chevy last week. I chopped the top on a Model Car World resin body, & removed all the oversized trim. I later scratch built the drip rails & beltline molding as well as rescribing the windshield & backlight trim. I added a DeSoto grille & front bumper, & I modified old Johan '56 Olds headlight rings. I scratchbuilt the rear bumper & used modified lincoln taillights. The body is HOK Violette Pearl & the top is HOK Passion pearl. Some side views through the building process. Steve
As usual, awesome work Steve. Squint really hard...turn your head sideways....imagine some headers.....Bobbleed.
Thanks! 1low, that mod is looking cool....I dig the inline. Don't chop it! Here's something else I tossed together. I went through all my parts boxes to organize and weed out some stuff, these are some of those parts! The body is an A rpu (actually, the same body 1load posted) I'd attempted to modify into a T. Didn't work too well, but it'll still look alright when done.
Thanks man, back at ya! That inline is out of the '51 Chevy kit and the 3 carb set-up is from the AMT '53 Vette. That body as you know is from the AMT '29 Ford with some of the parts from the Barris Ala Kart........Hobby Lobby has had them on clearance around here. I picked one up the other day for 3.50!
i made a '29 truck, chopped it, cut off fenders, and channeled it...i was soo proud of the engine,i made some little zoomies but i heated them and wrapped them in a way around some pliers, they look awesome, dream pipes.......and lit the glu so i got that nasty thick black smoke to coat the engine then wiped parts of it ,it looked 100% dead on real, but you know real small...... what do you guys use as a filler, i've used wood filler in the past but it doesn't work that well, from my trials.......
Well after Steve B's post i think i might throw my shit out! I finished (kinda) the 40. Its chopped, hardtopped, custom rear bumper, smoothed body trim, instead of trim it now has a body line, looks real different. Smoothed running boards, shaved hood/doors/deck..moulded headlights. For the front grille, i removed the stock side louvers and moulded plastic into the body, which follows the line of the hood, and kept the stock grille...looks differant. The 34 roadster is nearly done, grafted a 37 grille and hood sides onto the 34 hood, along with 37 wheels.
Wow awesome work as always. I am blown away by that chevy! and I can tell that that inline powered Modified 1lowlesabre is building will turn out awesome!
Does anyone know if anyone is making a resin 49-54 chevy wagon body. I saw a wagon in someones model show coverage which made me wonder... I bought an older S-10 blazer resin body about 5 yrs ago and just have not gotten around to building it yet.. Steveb, that is some wonderful photography you did on the model.. Really nice work
I couldn't wait for Sunday to roll around to post my progress, so I figgered I'd just add to this thread: Narrowed my 1:8 T body and frame for One-Man Modified duty... based on the Lindberg 1:8 "Custom T" with the flathead from the Revellogram "Big Deuce".
I decided not to wait also. Here is another survivor from the Showrod era. Still needs an interior, headlights, grill and chassis. This is so old I can't recall what I used for the grill shell. At first I thought it was a cut down 32 shell. Now that I look at it, maybe it was from the ala kart?? It doesn't show in the photos, but the wheel wells wrap around the tire, inspired by Starbird's customs.
Well if everyone else is gonna jump the gun (or maybe we're just reallyy really late?) I might as well too! Some progress on my modified. It's on all 4's and I've got a hood on it, and decided on a '32 shell.
Steve, that model is amazing! Hoping that you had other examples of your work, I found your webpage, and the models there are crazy. You are SICK! Seriously. I think you need help. If you other HAMBers haven't seen this guy's work, here's a peek at what you can expect: Check it out: http://www.sbkustoms.com .
