Projects It's 1962 == what are your wheel options ?

If we were back in 1962 what were the wheel options for your Roadster?

 

Steelies,wires, chrome reverse,maybe some Halibrands. HRP

 

I was poor.My options were black painted original rims with small center hub caps from a 60 Ford Galaxie.Some guys had chrome spiders.Spinner hub caps were on a lot of cars,even a few roadsters.

 

You had to have some bucks to have Halibrands! They were the ultimate.

 

Moon discs were big at the drags.

I believe that American 5 spokes and Ansen 5 spokes were available in 1962.

 

I'm leaning heavily that way, goal is to have the perfect 1962 built Roadster if I was old enough and had the funds in 1962.

 

I liked '60 Olds trim rings with the "grooves" or "slots" on the face with '58-'60 Chevy dog dish caps with the '57 Chevy tri bar knock offs!! Looked good on my '56 Chevy and my buddys '55 Ford!

 

I'm finishing up a 4 year build of a very period correct early '60s g***er inspired by Larry Teter's Vicky, c/gas champ 1961-62. If I can help you with any info PM me.

My 49 Shoebox business coupe was torch slammed and running gloss black stock rims with 5/8" white walls and baby moons, the wheel wells were painted pure white, sweet car....NW lowriding white boy.

 

I'll get back on that, need to find some stroller pictures .
