Traded my daily driver 51 Ford Victoria for some body work on a Buick Sportwagon tailgate. All I got was a gallon of poorly installed bondo and a little bit of primer.
Had quite a number of cars over the years. Only one i really miss is the 64 Chevy II wagon I built up with a 250, 3-1's and a 4 speed, about 1995 Devin
I've always made it a point in my life to sell the cars I should have kept,... and keep the cars I should have sold. This way I am never to happy,... and I have something to complain about. At least that's the way it always seems to work out.
The one I miss the most I guess would be the first one I did. Primered 1941 Ford 2 dr sedan,53 merc flattie,3 94's,cam,bored,edmund finned hi-comp heads,LaSalle trans,Columbia 2 spd rear,15x8 reversed rims red with baby moons and trim rings, dual exhaust, stock lights and body, factory Mohair interior. The electric fuel pump was it's downfall. It would quit running at the worst times. In a moment of rage and despair. I sold it on the side of the road for $85 to an older woman (40 ish ) who's boy friend (17) loved it....I spent the next 30 years trying to buy it back from her. Her boy friend left her a few months later and she kept it as a memory of their love. She used it as a yard art planter....sigh!!!
boy , i could make a list , but partial , the more desired , 41 steel willys , 64ss 409-4 speed convert, 40 ford super deluxe, lots of 32-33-34 fords , they were a dime a dozen back then , shit i wish i could go back
Cool video. I've been down that same 1/4 mile in my younger days too many times to count. I remember waiting until there was no traffic coming and then lining up right after that bend. Wow, that was crazy! There is no way you could do that today with all the traffic. Saw an accident there one summer night in 1962; '62 Belair coupe, 409/409, ominously named "Death Trap"and a '62 Impala with a built 327. A women slowed down when she saw all the spectator's cars lined up and the two Chevies ran right up on her. "Death Trap" went over one of the spectator cars and wound up balanced on the guard rail! Miraculously, no one was killed.
1965 Biscayne with a 500 hp 454, dual quads and Richmond 6 speed. I sold it to my neighbor and now it has a F.I. 454, auto, painted in a Lexus color and Mercedes leather interior. Oh yes, I forgot, 20" and 22" billet wheels.
Could not find parts to repair my 67 Dodge Polara after I wrecked it so it got crushed. Kick myself for not inventing the internet and finding parts for it. It was the first car I drove daily and paid for it with my graduation money. Still miss that ugly thing....
'69 SS 396 Chevelle, butternut/blk '70 LS5 Chevelle, red '65 SS Chevelle 327, 4spd, red '52 Buick Super, woody wagon, maroon/tan '52 Buick Roadmaster conv., maroon/wood!
The only two that i regret selling was my high school car a 1970 Plymouth GTX 440-6bbl 4speed bought in 1971 sold in 1975. The other was a 1967 Corvette 427/435 4speed convertible bougth in 1982 and sold in 2000. None of the others of about 35 that i've owned and sold throughout the years meant as much to me as these two.
69 Dart 340 Swinger, 4 spd, bench seat. Great little car with plenty of get up and go. Stupidly sold it for money to purchase a new frame for my broken Triumph Bonneville motorcycle.
My first car, a '29 A standard coupe (had to pay back money borrowed from my parents to finish college), my next car, a '64 Barracuda that I sold to buy my next car, a '64 XKE drophead, which I never want to think of again, much less see. I put 60 miles on that Jag in 6 months. Actually, it may have been twice as many miles on the front wheels, since the odometer doesn't record the miles when a tow truck has the rear wheels elevated.
It was 1967, I was driving a 1957 Chev 210 post with a six in it, it was clean and straight, I traded it straight across for a 1934 Ford 2 dr sedan with a small block chev in it with all GM drivetrain, it was full fendered and in primo shape, one small rust spot on it, . I had it one year and cherried it out, I traded it for the sweetest 57 Belair, I have ever seen. Thats one I should have kept......
Not HAMB friendly but in the early 80s I sold an all original, numbers matching, 70 Chevelle SS454, LS6, M22 for $4400 to buy a dragster. The car had ridiculous power. Wish I still had it.
A 35 willys coupe, 38 willys pickup ex gasser, 63 lemans gasser, 69 roadrunner 440 6bbl, 67 belvedere II factory superstock, HELL all of them and some I regret buying too
I'll be showing my age but first car in high school was a 47 Ford sedan bought for 125.00. Then a 50 Chevy fast back,a 56 Buick, 50 Merc convertible with lift off top, new 62 Impala, 39 Ford coupe I used to build a 55 Olds powered B altered. A few from later years were a 72 Vett, 88 Vett, 27 T roadster pickup and unfinished 32 roadster. Brings tears to my eyes.
My 68 plymouth belvedere with a slant 6, I drove it daily. 2 winters with no heat, it started no matter what.
I regret selling my 1970 383 4-speed Charger, 1966 383 4-speed Sattelite,1966 440 sattelite drag car, 1985 dragster, 1970 Challenger 440 6-pack drag car,1964 383 push button auto Polara, two 1967 Barracuda fastbacks, a 1965 Barracuda 273 formula S, a 1971 Duster 383 4-speed, to name a few!
Regret having sold most of them, but can't keep them all. Most regrets are over the 60's muscle cars that grew to astronomical value after I parted with them. But I really miss my 1957 Pontiac Super Chief 60K 2 door hardtop. 1957 Nomad 1957 Belair 2 door hardtop Mint 1954 Belair 2 door 1957 Pontiac Safari gasser But have to say the one that's meant the most to me is the one I still have...............
