The stuff in this thread is beyond priceless on many levels. Everybody in this forum owes thier left nut to guys like this and the stories they have to share. Somebody has got to figure out what happened here!

    Hey guys
only just joined The HAMB a week ago & caught this thread today.
Awesome read, reminds me of being a kid in the late '70's early '80's & reading Drag Racing comics

So it's been well over 2 years since Waydar has posted, any word on how he is doing & if he is still with us?
I really do hope the amnesia incident wasn't the forerunner to something that none of us want to think of as a possibility, not just because his tales were pure gold & worth reading but because he seemed like the nicest of guys.

    Anyone sent him an email?
i noticed he included it in at least one of his posts, went back through them & found it:

    mailto:waydar@comcast.net

If someone chooses to email him here's to a positive response

Just found this thread and all I can say is wow. Great great story and reading. History in the HAMB.

  13. Hey Wayne: Nice to hear you're still around. Great stories. Remember when we took turns sitting in Big's TF in Branstners shop and took each others picture? I may still have one of those around somewhere. I have a place in Vero Beach, FL now. Currently on my sailboat in Miami and freezing. Waiting for a break in the weather to head to the Bahamas for the winter. We'll have to get together and swap lies sometime. Sorry to hear about your wife. I lost Kay after 39 years in 03.
    Take care, Jay Howell

Hello Jay...sorry so long answering your post. I'm always hours late and dollars short. I live in Summerfield just 10 minutes from Don Gartlis and his museum...so not very far from your home in VB. We had some memorable times at BranstnersShop. Lot's of great memories. Sorry to hear about Kay....I had you beat a little as Mz Sherry and I had 40 years and 2 weeks together in 05. I would love to get together and lie er I mean talk about the good ole days. Yup, that would be super and you can meet my wife of 5 years. Be careful on the water and don't fall off in the Triangle we hear about...and watch out for the Somali pirates....lol!!! Take care...

  15. This is great reading this stuff. Being from west texas, Ive met Don Hardy and Joe Smith and worked with Joe's brother Jerry. Have met several others like K.S. Pitman and love to hear their stories but this one is by far better hearing day to day living AND racing stories. Take care and hope you are around alot longer. Keith

Wayne thanks for bringing back so many wonderful memories from the good old days of drag racing.

I can't tell you how much I miss match racing.

The stories and legends that were made during that era will live on forever for many of us who were there and watched it.

We need to hear these stories from people like you who lived it one day at a time.

I am so grateful that you have taken the time to share your memories with the rest of us.

  23. This is priceless stuff! If we can't preserve this thread, how else can we make sure it doesn't spin off into space?

  24. Be sure to tell him that people are still bumping this thread in case he gets in another of his story-tellin' moods! :D

  28. One of the REAL Guys!! You guys takin notes? WOW to have lived his life like that and NOT lost his woman! Mine all quit me because of the racing and cars (2X). I guess that makes me a looser? Wayne I use to hag out at Don's place in Tampa and Seffner. I taught at Tampa Bay Tech for years in Hillsborough County and at Lee Tech in Ft.Myers. My son's are in Fla still. Next time I'm down for part of the winter I hope I can stop by and say hi.?
