took apart the rear spring pack for my modified, put it back together with five leaves, saw that it sat too low, so I added another leaf. Still might add another.

Stood in the rain Saturday pulling the 39 coupe from its resting place. Trailered-Ed got it loaded up and drove away. Now I have a few bucks to play with. :)

I sat perfectly still for 2.5 hours in front of the TV watching Coddington screw up an old Ford while his one lacky tried to build a more traditional rod. We had to go somewhere before they finished. Was better than most of these shows have been. Anybody see the end?

That was my friend's dad. He got me started in the right direction when I first bought my car.

I tested my Super Secret Side Project. It worked. Now I just have to put it together for real. After that, I wandered around loosening bolts and trying to anticipate every potential problem on the crossmember swap. Realized I hadn't disconnected the brake lines. Spent the rest of the weekend in a PB Blaster-induced haze. I should really put a fan in the garage.

Spent Fri-Sat-Sun at Lockjaws, helping him get his T ready for March Meet. Threw away carbureted intake, and switched to Hilborn. MSD dizzy wouldn't clear, so threw it away, and switched to Vertex mag. Mostly spent our time hacking up brand new parts for clearance sake (fuel pump didn't clear balancer, etc). Today he's rewiring the car, then we'll get back on the plumbing for fuel and coolant. Gotta make linkage too. Maybe today I can sneak in some work on mine.........

We got the Pontiac RUNNING! Finished up the wiring, and installed the rebuilt starter .Not having a 'PARK' takes some getting used to. The car starts a lot easier when you have it in 'N' instead of 'R'. I spent the rest of the weekend driving it all around the South Bay.

Me and my friend got an old trailer from the barn. This lightweight trailer had wholly been made of wood! And the reason why we took it was the axle under this weird construction: The axle was nothing else but a complete Model A front front unit in a good shape and with unbroken bracket and Ford-36 artillery wheels! And also I cutted a roof insert from Opel for my new Model A project.

Saturday- Took "tack" and Mrs. Spike over to the So What Speed Shop to see Clark's car and finish a skateboard rail that Tack was making for a school project. Hung out with Scarry Larry, Nappy and Clark. The '32 frame is looking great. lots of nice fab work that you'll have to look carefully to notice. But all of the work is first cl***. Also saw Fatabone's coupe on the ground and on four borrowed wheels and tires. All I can say is..Wow. What a difference. The frame is perfect. The car just sits so right now. I have to say its the best look so far. My son finished his rail with Clark's help. Its adjustable in height as well as angle. My son is proud of the way it turned out. Thanks again Clark, Larry, and "Nappy".

PS. Sunday I didn't do anything.

friday i got my parts chaser into the garage and up on jack stands and got the heater going to melt the snow off it. saterday i drove up past Flint to meet up with donzie and what turned out to be just about the whole flint area clan of gmb's.

Got the new trans from donzie for the parts chaser and had a good breakfast with good people. got back home to a warm garage and started taking the trans out. ran into a few problems. like i bought a short tail shaft th350 to replace the long one:cool: .

But i went ahead and threw it in the truck. got sick of working on it about 8:30. Sunday i met up with PhatPat here at my house so he could get some trim off my biscayne. He brought beer and we played with the sawzall!

didnt touch the truck all day since i knew i would have to wait till today to get a drive shaft from the junk yard. but that was a pipe dream. (no one had one the right length) so i had to weld 3 inches onto mine. Now im just waiting for the ole lady to get home with my trans fluid so i can see how bad it shakes:D

May be doing oil change and u joints at the same time from now on. o well the truck was only 400 bucks. and The place by me wanted 250.00 to make a new shaft..screw them

I was spirited away Sunday by welll-meaning friends. We went looking at other people's projects for sale.....bought a project 40 ford pickup to resell and bought a big-window 55 chevy stepside shortie to keep for my own. Put my Willys Jeep pickup project up for sale...the end.

  18. Looks good buzzard.

I spent friday on the internet all day, due to the horrible cold & wet weather. Been locating rent houses in Austin, so I can relocate ASAP.

Saturday was another wet day, brother's girlfriend had a baby shower and all the guys in the family BBQ'd on the covered porch & drank beer all night.

Sunday the weather cleared up and made for a nice day. I start ixing some minor body flaws on the '54, getting it prepped. I pulled the trans & clutch to clean everything before the new clutch arrives. Car goes into paint booth next week.

    See ya'll at the round-up!

  19. This weekend...... I'd been runnin straight lakes for awhile now and I wanted to quiet it down just a bit. So, I "Y"ed into the pipe I had to the lakes with about a 3' section of pipe on each side with some cherry bombs. Then put my caps back on the lakes and it was quite abit quieter.
I also cut about 13" out of my driver side rocker panel and put in some new metal. Then put the drivers lakepipe back on and went riding in it for about 3 hours. It was a beautiful day to be out ridin'...........

After going through three backing plates I finally got the Bison Set Tru chuck dialed in on my lathe. The first ones they sent me were out of spec. The Bison is supposed to hold .0005 but the best they would hold was .020. think they were copies, the last one had the Bison logo and Made in Poland stamped on it. Got it on and you couldn't see the needle on the dial indicator move.
Back at the Firestation today, only one alarm so far. Hope it's quiet tonite.

I got a little measuring and cutting done on the center cross member for my T-5 conversion on the AV8. Nothing worth taking a picture of yet, but some progress is getting done.
Tomorrow I'm taking the adaptor to the machinist to mill the half-moon cut out for the starter drive clearance. I don't understand why they don't do that when they make the darn thing. Maybe it will cut into the profit too much.
I should have some pictures in a week or so of the ****** mount.

O Friday night I finished welding mostly on the quarter, filled the antenna hole and shaved the driver handle and fixed the lock mechanism. I was put on nights so I was out there freezing well into the morning. Saturday I drove my wife up to do the rest of the paperwork and check the status of work being done to her new Ducati and Sunday I went to look at a 50 Lincoln ****box, 50 Ford F-1 ****tier box, and a 46 Ford ****tiest box. Wasted day.

I managed to beat the **** out of my right and left thumbs changing a u-joint for the front driveshaft of Mary Jane Rottencrotch, my rusty old Suburban beater. Being Ambidextrous is good for making sure BOTH your hands get ****ed during a good knuckle-busting session.

On the brighter side I picked up my big new 10 inch Frankland QC.

Brought home my brand new to me 30 five window. Traded some stuff for a 305/350 and most of what I need for juice brakes. Spent the rest of the weekend in the tech section trying to figure it all out. Thats one long thread on suspensions.
