Anybody out there have this kit in a 60-64 Ford? They are on back order right now and we are trying to figure out where to locate the engine in our 1960 Ranch Wagon without it. I'm looking for how far back the rack and pinion sits from the engine crossmember so I know where I can locate the sump for our engine. Any help is appreciated.

That looks like the same design as the one in my car except the rack is offset more to the p***enger side.

Do you think you could get a measurement of how far back the rack is from the engine crossmember? What brand is yours?

It will be later this week before I can get to where my car is, but I can get you some measurements. My rack is from a GM J body(cavalier) and I bought the brackets from someone online. Here are some pics I have on my hard drive.

Just wondering. Anybody draw this out? The other question is why would you do this? I do know from experience that the gm rack that is showing has some real problems in the car it was made for let alone a 3300-3900lb car.
Like to see a finished one..Just askin.

This is very interesting. I would love to get rid of the forever leaking rams and hoses.

Those pictures help alot, thanks! And if you're near the car sometime measurements would be great, looks like your setup is very similar to the unisteer.
